My recumbent Trike is breaking the law even if I fit pedal reflectors.
You would not see them from infront/behind as they would point in the wrong direction, up/down not front/back.

Re: Fully loaded wobble
Is there any play in your headset ??
I'm thinking it's the knobbly bits at the edge of the tread that is setting up a vibration in your bike.
Hence the low speed wobble.

Re: General information re. recumbent trikes ?
I'm a disabled rider after loosing my left arm to a Tiger.
I now own a Trice Q & a large Y-frame Carry Freedom trailer.
I went down to Falmouth to see the chaps at ICE after finding them on the internet.
They adapted one so it all worked off the right hand and 30 sec after riding it, I wanted it.
Picked it up 4 days later ...........
I went for the Q over the T as the lower position felt more fun/faster/radicle.
And the wider track one for absolute max stability on high speed corners due to the atifical arm.
I ride with the seat at max recline, so I dont see over a lot of hedges.
I'm only doing 15-20 miles a day, as I'm getting fit after not cycling for ~20 years, but the ride is very comfy.
Max is a round trip of ~32 miles on the Brampton Valley Way cycle track, legs where fatiged but nothing else was.
It's slower uphill than a DF, but that is getting better as I get fitter.
You do feel the road surface more than on a DF, but unless the surface is very bad ( downhill on gravel at +20 mph) the ride is still smooth.
With over 20kg of shopping in the trailer, the only difference is I'm a gear or two lower going up hill.
Plus its so different, most car drivers give you more room.

Re: Inconsiderate cyclists, Tourer panniered up Edenbridge
Its one thing I like about my Trice Q, its 35" wide.
I ride with a 30" wide Carry Freedom trailer behind it.
My bike is about 9 foot long by 3 foot wide by 2 foot high ..........
So it takes very little effot on my part to fill a lane if I want to.
But if I'm going slow, sub 10mph, and I get a line of traffic behind, then if possible I'll will pull over to let the trafic through.
But if I'm going +20mph then I do ride a couple of foot from the curb, just to be safe.

My Trice Q & trailer are kept under cover in one of the hovels at work.
I cannot get them in through my front door to keep them in the cottage.

Re: CYCLE TRAILERS
I made a 2" diam hard rubber washer for the swivel joint on my trailer, then tightened it till it just swiveled.
It's killed the noise from that joint, but I'm just going to see how well it wears.
But the new hitch sounds interesting.

Re: CYCLE TRAILERS
I pull a large Carry Freedom trailer on my Trice Q.
I've a large Core Storage chest from B&Q on it which gives me ~100 liters space for the weekly shopping.
Apart from useing a lower gear uphill when loaded and a slight rattle from hitch when its empty, I don't notice it.

Re: The 2009 Two Daughters Tour
I only know a little bit of the route.
From Melton Mowbray to Market Harborough looks like to B6047. I've not been down that route, just got it off the map.
From Market Harborough towards Northampton it's the Brampton Valley Way, NCN6, getting off at Brixworth.
I've cycled it on my Trice Q, Its not a bad surface.
If you don't want to follow the NCN6 then its the A508 to Brixworth, fast but not overly busy, I've cycled Brixworth to Northampton on it.
From Brixworth aim to cut between Northampton and Wellingbourgh.
Brixworth -> Holcot -> Sywell (home) -> Mears Ashby -> Earls Barton -> Grendon -> Bozeat. All back roads
After Bozeat it's possible to stick to the back roads, hitting the A5 just outside Bedford but I've not cycled that far, I turn north at Bozeat back towards Wellingbourgh and home.
Hope this idea of part of the route helps.

Try it with a large Carry Freedom trailer on the back.
It make weekly shopping so easy so easy with mine.
Where in Northamptonshire are you based ??
I'm based just outside Northampton with my Trice Q.
Have a good trip.

Re: Silly commuter racing...
Tried to that yesterday coming out of town on my Trice Q.
I was ok on the flat and pulled ahead down hill.
But the 25kg of shopping in the Carry Freedom trailer on the back, almost killed me going up the hills.

Re: trailers and road bikes
I've just got a large Carry Ferdom trailer to run behind my Trice Q bike.
The whole rig is now around 3 foot wide and 9 foot long.
Anybody know where I can get a "Large Load" sticker to put on the back of the trailer ??
Cars should give me plenty of room ......
The plan is next year, tent-sleeping bag-etc-etc in the trailer and go off for a month or two.
jogle and back if I'm fit.

Could you put that in laymans terms, please?
Keep the legs spinning.
Its a lot easier to go up a hill with a low gear and high leg rmp, once your fit, than it is to go up in a higher gear and a lower leg speed.
Less force is needed per pedal push.

Re: get fit or else...
I'm about 2 weeks into my fitting program.
Trying to do +10 miles-a-day.
Its working slowly as the legs dont hurt as much going up hill.
But it's just a question now of do I get fit enough to do +40 miles a day (LEJOG) or do my knees/hips go first.

Re: Semi recumbant tandem thoughts...
The backwheel of a tadpole trike may not take the same weight as the backwheel of a DF.
But it probably takes a lot more lateral load because you cannot lean into any corners.
Add a DF behind it and I can see it giving up the ghost very quickly due to the added torque loads.
