Re: Concerning Marmite
Sainsbury's do a reduced salt yeast extract. It's surprising that Marmite don't do a reduced salt one as well.

A 22mm Headset ?
Yours must be 32mm. Well spotted: that's a bargain for a (threaded) headset / pedal spanner.

Re: Question about Cantilever Brakes
This hanger fits onto the fork crown / bolt hole.
I had the opposite problem. I bought a Marin which had the stem like yours replaced and I changed it back to the original.

Re: 5 Corners of Ireland in September
What are the 5 Corners?
Is it the geographical limits as East = Burr Point, Ards / North = Malin Head / West = Garraun Point, Dingle / South = Brow Head,(near Mizzen Head) and Centre = Athlone.
I am asking because I have been looking at Ireland for a tour and have'nt heard of the 5 corners.
Good luck with your tour.

Not only were the ends fused, but the cables were specific to the use, ie. front/rear/brake or gear. If you were keen a tandem rear brake cable as a universal spare.

Re: History of a Dyna-tech 525 (Raleigh)
Your bike was probably made around 1992. By Raleigh's Special Products Division. The frame tubes are bonded to the lugs by adhesives instead of brazing.

Re: Front racks
If it is the four point fixing.
Use a spacer between the rack end eye and the mudguard eye.
Use P clips to fix the other attatchment eye to the fork blade. ( Placing the nut and bolt to the rear of the fork blade keeps my rack level.)

A rack worth looking at but not a lowrider is the Blackburn MTF1 Front Pannier it is 4 point fixing, very rigid and has a platform on top.

Does the trike used by the waterseller in Mad Max 3 beyond Thunderdome count. It is human powered transport.

I lost one of the prongs. The pin also disappeared. I just assumed that it was screw-in.

Re: Carradice Bagman QR rattle?
Are the buckles inside or outside the saddlebag. if they are outside the rollers might be causing the rattle.
The leather straps should be holding the QR pins tightly enough against the frame to stop any rattling.
Make sure the prongs are screwed in tight, as if they are loose, vibration might make them fall out.

Re: Is the Carradice Saddlebag Support any good?
IanWhere did you get the SS allen bolts from please ??[/quote]
I got mine from an industrial fastenings supplier, buying mainly M4 in various lengths plus washers and nylock nuts where appropriate to suit Waterbottle bosses, mudguard eyes, toeclips, P clips for holding racks on also brake cable bolts, gearlever on old Shimano 105 (1993) And a few M5; seatbolt, gear cable bolts
The company I got them from no longer exists but you should be able to find an industrial fastening supplier locally.
It is considerably cheaper buying them this way than in a small pack from Halfords.

After drilling a couple of recesses into the very hard metal it held together but I've never been very happy with it (but then saddlebags in general are a problem as I'm vertically challenged) and to be fair others seem very happy with it. A standard rack may be a better support.
Providing it is the Bagman Support ASTONISH means.
I replaced the grub screws on mine with SS Allen bolts for better grip on the rails.

CREPELLO wrote: is that Spinnaker tape waterproof? It doesn't appear to have a waterproof membrane.
The adhesive is the waterproof membrane.
CREPELLO is right that if the jacket is still under warranty to refer it to the manufacturer for repair or replacement. (If it is out of warranty the manufacturer might still do something as a gesture of goodwill.)
