newark showground to town centre.

any tips? i can't think of any other way apart from over the showground roundabout and into winthrope, arriving down by the old courage place. but over the showground roundabout isn't going to be pleasant or safe. google earth shows a track from the showground to the petrol station at A17/A1/A46 rou...

it wasn't the bit about brakes that irked me

cycle to school contract

my son's come home with a document for me to read, understand, agree to and sign, before permission to cycle to school can be given.

who's seen similar, and who's responded?

i'd be inteterested in having any such letters you may have sent back to a school.

Re: Unicycle on A30 - doing LEJOG?

riding on the A30 isn't the best idea on a full bike. there are many motorists who's say riding any bike on any road is a bad idea. what seperates you from those taking out of their hat merchants.? perhaps you've got a list of roads i could avoid to prevent me becoming an idiot? or maybe even bette...

Re: 0.2 mm - what's the difference?

handily for you, beer cans are 0.1mm. so a bit cut out with scissors that's a incomplete wrap around the seatpost and 4inches long will sort it for little cost and little effort.

it's sharp though, so take care

there's bad motorists amongst all groups of people. be they blond, bald, black or religious. let's not single out those who like to spend their time talking to deities.

Re: The self-evident versus the counter-intuitive

I hope you didn't think I was putting those two cyclists in danger ............... coz I wasn't. almost all close overtaking motorists don't think that they're putting cyclists in danger. perhaps you knew that they weren't about to suddenly swerve to avoid glass/pothole or get knocked sideways by a...

Re: The Mindset of Waste

I could write a book about it,and probably would if it didn't cause so much paper waste  it's what i did my dissertation on. 'market based instruments vs. command and control techniques in waste reduction', or something like that. as you say, when sainsbury gave the labour party a £2m donatio...

Re: Self-infliction

Here we go. This is the old "ban everything I'm not used to 'cos it's dangerous" argument. bread knives, electricity. the list is endless. but i'd suggest that the clearest evidence for something to be banned is motor vehicles in cities. if you wanted to do it by evidence, that is
