Isla Rowntree's roughstuff tourer featured a while back in Cycle magazine was running 32x23t combo, I seem to recall.

Re: Well done CTC

Particularly found the Bikefitting article of interest - not that I feel I want or need one, but it all seems to be the rage now with a number of magazines suggesting it is very important to be properly fitted when buying a new road bike. ( What If you're buying a folder / recumbent/ or mountainbike ? )

Given your height I'd expect you also have larger than average feet? - Chainstay length / pannier size will need to be taken into account too.

Re: Surly Troll frame views...

I've got a Surly Troll & it is certainly a versatile beast which can be built for a variety of tasks / cycling duties. However it ain't lightweight, but I bought it for mostly winter commuting / roughstuff duties, knowing that it could also handle a big tour with panniers or trailers if required. The dropout arrangement to accept derailleurs / SS / or IHG was another attraction. Plenty of further info on the web.

Hi Adam, Just wondered whether any of your Questionaires ( which I've answered ) have any link to this report?

Re: New for 2014: Genesis Day One Alfine Di2

It is 8 speed ! Though I've been led to believe the shifter will work the 11speed Alfine Di2 hub too.

Re: Fixed gear mountain bike

My Inbred SS is spaced 135mm @ rear... I don't run it as a fixie, but I have a Surly Troll running 65" fixed using a Surly Fixed/Disc hub ( 135mm) - Fine off road on certain routes.

Amazing ! Nobody has said smaller wheels are slower than bigger ones !

( I didn't want to mention it as I only ride "big" wheels off road :D )

Maybe its a covert way of stopping the squeal......

And improved braking performance?
