I sold a Raleigh Classic for £200 last year.It was in excellent order.The buyer paid exactly what I asked and was a real gent-no haggling etc.I think it was a good bike and would not sell for £100 unless it was to a mate or similar

Buy the proper tool and try it.If not you could try different chainsets.You should know the width of the b bracket and I imagine the modern MTB chainsets wouldhave smaller offsets than the stuff from the 80s.Otherwise pay your LBS and learn theleson about proper tools.Are you a plumber by any chance...

Make sure you tighten them gradually using quarter turns or less otherwise you could distort the wheel
