Re: csts for ten day cycling /camping tour of normandy

Just got back from a 2 week cycle camping trip from Calais to Grenoble. Daily cost vary a lot from place to place. Cheapest camp sites were council ones in the north at about 5 euros a night as I went south started paying mostly 10 euros a night with a couple with pools at 12 euros. But a few had sp...

Re: Bikes on Paris to Strasbourg TGV -experience?

If the SNCF timetable shows a bike against your TGV train you can reserve a space (to take a assembled bike) on it when you buy your ticket (but only by phone or at a French station) The ticket comes printed with the bike space number and bike carriage number. Re: Eurostar not accepting CTC plastic bike bags

Thanks for the update Tim. By the way, do you still have to bag-up your bike if it's going as luggage or do you just wheel it into Eurostar Dispatch? I came back from Paris to London in June with my bike booked on as luggage, When one books a bike space they send you a link to a web page where you can get directions to the counters. At Paris it is slightly confusing as the counter looks closed, y...

Re: Zeebrugge to Berlin route

Euro Velo Route R1 might be a good start. There is a guidebook with maps for the German part. http://www.stanfords.co.uk/Activities-and-Interests/Maps--Atlases/European-Cycle-Route-R1-Arnhem---Berlin---Polish-Border-1030km_9783850001298.htm I have done Amsterdam to Berlin in about 10 days.

Re: Total Beginner (Newcastle Upon Tyne) Needs Help!!

The Tyneside local councils have published a set of free cycling maps of Tyneside which show all the off road cycle paths of which they are many. I picked mine up at M Steel Cycles near South Gosforth Metro. However when you get out to the north west of Ponteland the small lanes are very quiet. You ...
