I have a 48/38 chainset with interchangeable rings (stronglight 80) 170mm. Could i swap the 38 ring for a 28 ? and if so would i need to change the front mech and/or chain length?

roadside puncture repair
The brake cables on my bike exit the top of the brake hoods. How do i turn the bike upside down (ie to repair a puncture) without damaging the cables/hoods?

Re: frame geometry
Thanks all-some interesting answers and fantastic illustrations! BTW i am 6`0" tall, guy at the bike shop advised a 56 or 58 frame, with more leeway for an upright position on the 58. Also, the next size down on the galaxy from a 58 is a 53.

frame geometry
I have been comparing the frame geometry between ridgeback panorama and dawes galaxy. Which one would give a more upright riding position on a 58cm size frame?

wieght issue
When comparing the ridgeback voyage and panorama for wieght they are the same. Surely the reynolds 725 would be lighter than 520?

Does anyone ride on or have experience of 29" wheels? What is the availability of tyres/inner tubes to suit?

Re: Chain Cleaning
Regular chain cleaning is best practice. Clean off as much dirt as possible with a dry rag. Drip lashings of 3in 1 oil onto chain whilst on bike. Leave to soak for 30 mins. Wipe off excess oil.Simples! (3in1 oil is perfectly adequate and v.cheap!)Measure between rivets it should be 12" centre to centre. if its 12 +1/8" the chain is almost worn out. Prolong life of chain by turning direction(same side facing outwards) mid life approx 1500 miles.
