Re: Replacing headset bearings

I want to replace the headset bearings on my 2012 Boardman Road Comp. If I hold the front brake on an rock the bike forwards and backwards there's quite a bit of movement. Taking the fork out of the frame the top bearing pops out. It's a 1 1/8th 1 1/2 inch tapered steerer, spec taken from https://w...

Re: Are bikes getting bigger?

I am the same height , 5 foot 7 " and found the virtual top tube measurement works for me as the best way to find a bike that fits , a 54 cm TT is about the right ball park , i have ridden a misold 56 frame but it had a 70 mm stem to make it work.

Re: Waterproof cover for bike on hatchback rack

One thing I have to say, and I'm on here saying it before, is that there's no way I would put my pride and joy on the back of a car. Two reasons. One, the back of every hatchback car we've ever had, has got filthy at the back due to turbulence picking up the grit. Combine that with rain, and it's h...

Re: Winter bike

I agree with the above
For winter commuting i am using my "Dropway " aka carrera subway drop bar conversion , cable discs, 26x1.5 road tyres.
Built like a tank and parts are cheap to replace if the road grime and grit destroy them.

Re: What cassette would you match with a 48T single crankset?

Depends a lot on the terrain and your fitness , my "dropway " carrea subway with drop bars has a triple but i very rarely use the middle and never used the inner ring . Outer ring is a 48 , used to run with a 12-25 but now on an 11-28 as it was cheap and its ran as a winter commuter with p...
