Help me fit my Tubus Tara lowrider

I've fitted the lower brackets of the carrier to the drop outs using the spacers - all that's fine. But now the two horizontal arms are a long way off the brazed on bosses - 20mm one side & 10mm the other. So if I want to avoid "stressing" the whole thing & risk failure somewhere I...

Re: Broken sprocket

No idea how it happened, though like many failures it started with a clicking which I didn't get round to investigating... until too late! So must have gone in the thinner part first then finally given up with the second tear when I was climbing.

Broken sprocket

Can anyone suggest how I've managed to break this sprocket (10 speed, Veloce)? It's only about 4yrs/4500 miles old so am perplexed.

Re: Slipping rear wheel-solutions?

I've suffered this slipping wheel problem - with a new Ambrosio Zenith hub - and my plain steel dropouts. Never had a problem with my other hubs in that frame - Campag or Shimano. The knurling(?) on the nuts on the drive side was just flattened to nothing. I seem to have solved the problem by puttin...

Re: Any Warmshowers hosts on here?

Been signed up about 3 years & have hosted one or two a year, enjoyed meeting all the guests, feeding them & passing on knowledge of local area. Also stayed with 3 or 4 hosts in UK & abroad - similarly enjoyed that, especially when touring alone & you get the chance to meet locals ra...

Ambrosio Zenith hubs maintenance

I've just acquired a pair of nearly-new wheels with these hubs and am a bit perplexed as to how they work. The rear axle doesn't spin very freely - can someone explain how I adjust it? Do I just whack it with a mallet? Am I right in thinking that the "locknuts" on the rear axle are just ti...

Re: Rigida rims

Somewhere in this Tech Section there is a thread about how the outer diameter of Chrina rims has increased slightly in the last couple of years, so that they're a bit of a tighter fit for all tyres now. As my own experience of fitting tyres on them testifies.

Re: Suntour powershift (ratchet) levers

I have a band-on pair. The levers are bolted onto the bands, and the bolts and levers fit the braze-ons on my frame, but the stops don't, so they are incompatible! Frustrating.

Re: Gdansk

Thanks for the advice, yes I do mean east, as I hope to get to the Wistula Lagoon before turning south for a short trip inland to my ultimate destination only a couple of days ride away (Olsztyn). Any more local knowledge would be appreciated!

Gdansk

Can anyone recommend a good way from Gdansk airport to the Baltic coast to the east? I don't know whether I should go straight through the city or take a big loop round to the south.

Yes, I'd also try for maximum grip & leverage - I used a 3 foot pipe wrench to loosen mine the other day

Re: Bike Shops in Sheffield

And don't forget the other Butterworth bike shop (AE Butterworth) - a very friendly & more personal service as I recall (though that was about 20 years ago!) http://maps.google.co.uk/maps/place?hl=en&client=firefox-a&hs=h8O&rls=org.mozilla:en-GB:official&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.&am...
