Bendo, You've got the silver head badge correct by cutting it out to match the regular colored head badge. I guess the square was just how they were produced pre-cut.
Busaste, Real nice frame. I know how you feel about the small frame. My aerospace GP is 21 1/2" and is now impossible to ride as I get older. Is your's 23 1/2?? It would be tempting to do a switchover if my wife wouldn't kill me. The basement is getting very crowded and no one wants to be exiled to the shed!
One day I've got find the right sprint tri race to show up at with one of my Viscounts and just go retro!
I've got to figure out the right format on Zazzle to be able to do shirts with the solid white lettering one of these days. Anyone who wants to design their own should go to the site and try it out. Its pretty cool.

Re: Viscount bicycles!!
Nice pics Bendo. While I don't know much about the "Supabike", I can report that the all silver head badges were standard issue on my aerospace Gran Touring models. I bought myself one of the last sets from H.Lloyd just in case I need a makeover on my originals.
Busaste, How do you like the shirts? I'm enjoying wearing my hoodie sweatshirt with the big Viscount logo this relatively mild winter.

Re: Viscount bicycles!!
The mold doctor is in. How about some household bleach? Don't know if it will kill the saddle/patient but will for sure kill the mold!
Hope you enjoy the shirts! I just ordered a hoodie, hat, long and short sleeve at 50% off for Cyber Monday.
Guys, tell your wives/significant others they'd make nice holiday presents!

Re: Viscount bicycles!!
Its finally here! My wife, the graphic designer and I, have created an online store to purchase Viscount logo shirts, hats, and bags. I know there has been interest on the forum to have a nice logo shirt made and now it is a reality! We came up with three different shirt logo options and each logo option is available on different shirt styles and colors. Everything is professionally made at Zazzle. You decide what works for you! Its a real easy to navigate site. This is a great forum loaded with information and inspiration that lead me to now owning three Viscount Aerospace bikes, and I hope the members enjoy our products. All feedbacks and comments are appreciated. Please click on the links below to browse. Happy shopping!
P.S. Zazzle is running some holiday promotions that expire at midnight.

Re: Viscount bicycles!!
The all silver head tube and down tube "shield" were the original type used on the Aerospace Gran Touring models of which I still have on both my blue and yellow Viscounts. These were the lowest priced model with the lugless frame in 1976 on the food chain so I guess they couldn't spring for any color!

Re: Viscount bicycles!!
And now it's three Viscounts! I recently went for a Viscount Gran Touring off Craig's List which cleaned up very nicely. It's pretty much all original with the steel rims, fixed rear wheel, suicide brake levers, stem mounted shifters, and half painted fork. I've still got my original 1976 VGT in blue but in the course of "upgrading" I got rid off most of the stock parts. Haven't seen a post from Busaste in a long time. Hope he busy with Viscount related projects!

Re: Viscount bicycles!!
Thanks for the link Goldie. They look like a good match minus the Viscount logo and much better than a bag tie!

Re: Viscount bicycles!!
Greetings, I'm hoping to find a pair of top tube cable fasteners for my Aerospace Gran Touring bike. I've got a posting with pic back on 12/26/09. They were in bad shape when I did my rebuild and one just totally snapped today. If anyone has any extras that you can part with, please let me know what we can work out. I would hate to resort to bag ties! Thanks, Michael

Re: Viscount bicycles!!
Just looked up fork recalls on the Consumer Product Safety Commission website, U.S. (for fun?). Amazed to see some big names like Cervelo, Giant and most recently Felt with fork failures/recalls. Makes you wonder since they're not shutting down anytime soon. In a way I guess Viscount was again ahead of its time!

Re: Viscount bicycles!!
Hi all, After I rebuilt my blue Viscount Gran Touring (see Dec 26, 2009), I got the bug to find another one with all the origional parts. I took delivery on a 1975 Aerospace G.P. from Craigs list last week that fit the bill. The origional owner rode it maybe four times and kept it pretty close to new condition with only a few minor frame scratches. It only took some minor adjustment to get it road ready. I swapped out the short Birmalux seat post for a 350mm, put a new/old seat on, and swapped out one of the non-locking Lambert Q/R levers for a safer one. The origional owner had replaced the tubes and matched up new handlebar tape. All these parts will saved. Rode it today for the first time and it was very smooth. I do have to get used to the friction shifters! Here is a list of the parts: Shimano Titalist rear and Shimano GTO Thunderline front derailliurs, Birmalux alloy rims and seatpost, Lambert toeclips, straps and Q/R levers, Viscount brakes headset, hubs, crank, and pedals, IRC tires and Gen 3 aluminum fork. I'd like to touch up the scratches if I figure out how without messing it up. I know Busate will enjoy this one! Here are some pictures.

Re: Viscount bicycles!!
Hey Quicksilver
Didn't you know thats the way we ride them on the other side of the pond! Actually no kidding the picture is flipped but still inspiring to those whose Viscounts are more battered and are trying to restore. I rode it outside Sunday and boy the reality doesn't match the old memories but it was still awesome after 20 years to see it working.

Re: Viscount bicycles!!
Thanks CTC for inspiring me to get my old Viscount Grand Touring bike out of the garage and make it rideable for the first time since 1989. Ordered some new rubber, took apart and cleaned the drivechain, and polished her up and it looked suprisingly good. I'm waiting for some decals I ordered from hlloydcycles.com and I'm going to try for some touch up paint. Rode her on the old windtrainer Christmas eve and am looking forward to the spring for a few short outdoor rides. It won't replace my newer bikes anytime soon but it is a bit nostalgic since it was THE bike from 1976-1989. No, it does not have the aluminum fork or sealed BB bearings. I went for the base model with steel fork, steel rims and standard bearings and I guess it worked out well. I hope to post a photo once I get the decals
