Re: Dirty bikes for sale on ebay
Some interesting perspectives... I conclude that I am a grumpy old man, albeit with some fellow travellers...

Dirty bikes for sale on ebay
Bikes for sale on ebay are frequently very mucky yet still pricey. Why don't people give them a good clean before posting the ad? Am I just another grumpy old man - or am I missing something?

Re: Warmest Winter Gloves
Liner gloves work for me, especially as you can take them out when you warm up.

Re: Raleigh M Trax MTB bonded frame range
Thanks guys, for your sage advice. My summer road bike is a Vitus 979 and is why my eye was caught by the Trax. But as I would be planning trekking beyond my native Suffolk sustrans routes(!) maybe something more substantial is required. More substantial as well than my winter road bike, a Condor Fra...

Raleigh M Trax MTB bonded frame range
Does any learned member have an opinion on the quality of the old Raleigh M Trax bikes that are a hybrid of Ti tubes and steel? Was it a gimmick or is it a decent frame? Eg for use as a laden trekking bike.

Bike courier for unboxed bike
Does anyone know someone who would collect a bike and deliver it to me without it being boxed up? The reason is that I want to buy a bike on ebay that is collection only - and the seller won't box it up. It isn't a particularly valuable bike, circa £150.

Regenerative braking
Is there a simple reason that e-bikes don't have regenerative braking? Possibly cost, complexity or even weight?

Re: Suspension seat post
Thud Buster certainly looks the job. And yes, I assume that job entails smoothing the road out - rather than gently bouncing you up and down!

Suspension seat post
I'm looking into suspension seat posts for a friend with a fragile back who doesn't want a full suspension bike. Anyone know of a particularly good model? For context it is for a woman specific bike with riser bars.

Re: Full suspension e-bike
Thanks for the comments re seat posts: I hadn't thought of that. Could be the way forward as it leaves the field open for choosing a bike.

Full suspension e-bike
I know that there are full suspension (ie front and rear) mtb type e-bikes, but does anyone make a full suspension women specific e-bike for the road? The reason is that the person in mind has a fragile back. Thanks.

Rusty 531 frame
A cautionary tale: my son bought a nice veteran touring bike (a well respected northern frame/bike make) a couple of years ago which he has had good use out of. Just recently he removed the bottle cage to see why it was rattling and discovered the frame had rusted thru around one of the two fittings...

Unisex bike, men's saddle
My partner ordered herself a Ridgeback Expedition from a well known independent bike shop in the North of England. She asked quite reasonably I thought if it could be fitted with an off the shelf women specific saddle, rather than the off the shelf men specific saddle. The shop said yes, but she wou...
