Re: Cycle Track and Bus route

Cunobelin
I see that this is now on another thread. Gov't has given them the money. Any further info on the TRO that you said was going to be dropped?

Re: CTC - does it want members?

This is the full and frank enquiry? After the last AGM we were promised a full report for the 2009 AGM but what is in the magazine indicates that the executive are happy. It seems the only way to progress this forward is to use your proxy vote and vote against the annual report this year and see wha...

Re: "Chased and stopped by the Police!"

Galaxy Tourer, As an avid forum user I am sure you will have followed the other thread asking if the police had ever helped anyone. It is a shame you have lost any shread of confidence in the police because they still remain the one body (or individuals) that can protect you from undesireable person...

Re: Club run nearly ending in disaster

Well on our club rides we try very hard NOT to have all of us together as a large group is hard to overtake and causes frustration to drivers. We therefore like to restrict group size to about 10 (or less) and ask riders to space out occasionally to give motorists a chance to overtake a small group ...

Re: Liability Disclaimers

Karen Well the message seems to be clear - "follow the guidelines or rules or risk being on your own if a claim is made". I would have liked CTC to be more definitive actually. All clubs have to have rules and if you don't want to follow them why stay. What is the point in risking litigati...

Re: Liability Disclaimers

Those at HQ seem to have short memories if they cannot answer such a simple question. I have responded earlier to this thread and ask that you read this if you have not done so. In short the "club" had a need to put its own house in order and show that it had taken sufficient steps to ensu...

Re: The System Stinks

To Phil Lee Are you trying to get someone arrested as well as having the indignity of finding the route blocked. You may well be joking but ANY interference with a motor vehicle would be viewed probably more seriously than the breaches of law by the owners of the vehicles. You would certainly see th...

To Martin Edney
Yes very sure. I have used it and had at least three bikes on board. Its a great little ferry and it would be a shame to lose it.

Re: Double booked hostels

[i]In these difficult times it would be nice if a few more CTC members had an odd overnight at a YHA hostel. It's a case of use them or lose them (i). Malpas What you are suggesting is exactly what want to do but find it difficult to achieve because of booking policies. I have been a member of YHA ...

Re: Double booked hostels

I too had a problem with Okehampton. I had booked, confirmed by phone and letter as well, for a party of 10 doing an End to End. Then had a phone call late in the day saying that "someone" had double booked and we could not stay. That left me with the problem of finding a large enough B&am...

Re: wiggle mail order

Ordered a bag on Friday about noon. A problem with card details so they e-mailed me and I rectified it. Expected a further delay due to that and took the free delivery option. Arrived and 0900 Saturday - what a good service.

Re: CTC - does it want members?

Is anyone going to the CTC AGM this year? If so please ensure that this subject is brought up again and fully debated. Last year we debated it and examples were given. As a result we were promised: a full enquiry because complaints had finally filtered through to the executive; AND and a report at t...

Any chance of a name to substantiate this? Also any documents? My experience is that verbal promises are sometimes made and later forgotten about once its all gone wrong

I did a trip with Red Spokes to Vietnam a couple of years ago. Excellently organised and I would recommend talking with Dermot - he will answer any queries you have. He is experienced, tough and very flexible so sorts problems out before they become a problem.

Cunobelin I forgot to mention earlier - I do not object to making buses quicker as they are held up in the general traffic so who would use them instead of driving. With a dedicated route some may abandon the cars. Additionally I consider that this is the one opportunity to extend the cycle route ri...
