Re: EU Ref...I Am Confused..Aren't You...

Kwackers, you are moving the goalposts. I was just pointing out that voting to stay in doesnt mean that we have secured a predictable, stable future. The issue which you now raise is a different one. It just so happens that to my mind, our government's input into the EU has normally been to our peop...

Re: EU Ref...I Am Confused..Aren't You...

But we know what the EU is and it's possibilities, outside the boat who knows what lurks beneath the not inconsiderable waves. We also knew what the "EU" was when we voted last time but it keeps getting re-written. Nothing to stop another re-write of the EU being proposed in July, in fact ...

Re: COBBLERS! ....or improving modern cycle shoes.

Personally I've never thought anything better than Velcro straps. You can't adjust laces while riding. I do have a pair with Nurse Ratchet efforts on them : I refer to these as my "stupid shoes" due to the extra faff involved, and they make great crank-rubbing lumps when worn with a 4 mm ...

I fear we'll vote out and spend decades in worse decline than we are already.

That is one possibility, the other is that we will vote in and spend decades in worse decline than we are already.

Re: COBBLERS! ....or improving modern cycle shoes.

It isnt just the chainring. Mine had a particular fondness for lassoing the end of the crank that extends past the pedals and untieing itself as I pedal on. Just irritating rather than perilous, though nowhere near as irritating as velcro straps grabbing hold of every sock, sleeve and each other, ev...

Re: EU Ref...I Am Confused..Aren't You...

It is a mistake to think that those who intend voting OUT are remembering the "good old days". There is a fine distinction between saying they can remember "the good old days" and are remembering them. I wasnt asserting that is was causation, just correlation. I dont think that ...

It is more likely that in twenty years time, the majority of the "out" camp will have died off, my feeling is that it is more the older generation who remember the "good old days" that support out. This is backed up by one survey (chosen at random by me). http://www.telegraph.co....

followed by decades of the UK not being comfortable with the way the EU operates.

They will also be uncomfortable about the way Westminster operates.

Re: COBBLERS! ....or improving modern cycle shoes.

I havent gone that far but I do cut off the velcro straps on the Shimano shoes that already have eyelets and laces under them.
This does mean that you have to be very careful about keeping your laces tidy or they catch on chainrings and crank-ends.

Re: Tubus Vega rack

The Fly is also narrower at the top and not suitable for a rackbag.
It is therefor slimmer and offers better aerodynamics when the panniers are fitted.

Sometimes I want a rackbag, sometimes I wish it was a bit easier pushing against the wind when carrying panniers.

You say they have been displaced by war, but we know that only around 30% of the migrants are from Syria. You know that, I have said it already and provided sources, but let's not let facts get in the way of the greater good. Whereas I agree that the BBC does not tell the truth, the whole truth and...

Yet again, as ever, you are putting words in my mouth that I never said. That post is, yet again, so far from the mark, the truth that it just cant be replied to. I am just not the person that you imagine that you are talking to. Now if it went back to the issues, rather than some ridiculous demand ...

I think that it had Enoch "Cozy" Powell on drums.

Re: Music on the move

I like engaging with people and having a chat. We arrived in Lima yesterday. We met a lot of people of a similar age already. The best one was a Peruvian guy of Italian descent in the supermarket. His granny came from Essex and he spoke really good English that he learned at her knee. He reckoned h...
