Re: Not enough women on the forum
7) Occasionally offer some support to the work that the CTC is doing with disadvantaged and disabled groups. Gulp, You think that making that a requirement of forum posters is going to encourage more members. 1) Don't choose a forum name that identifies you as old. Does that mean we only want to at...

I have to opine that if the Cracknell incident demonstrates anything it's the benefit of a rear view mirror...

Re: Cost of wheelbuilding - am I missing something?
Yes, diversity of interest is to be frowned on. Getting out on the bike each day and doing 200k should enable us to all achieve 70,000kms a year. So less slacking, wasting time on wheelbuilding folks and ride, ride, ride until you are sick of it. It could be worse, some folk waste time on t'internet...

Spoke Wars
I like to watch this forum and many others but seldom bother posting. My sense of mischief means that I can not resist drawing your attention to this thread on another forum. http://yacf.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=48012.0 where the local experts suggest that Pizzaman should use double butted spokes...

Re: Drilling Valve Holes.
I made a couple of "road" wheels for the bike a couple of years ago to have thin tyres and used thin tubes with Presta valves. The narrower Sputnik rims came drilled out for car type valves and I had to get some adaptors! Now I go to replace a fat rim for fat tyres and fat tubes, it comes ...

Re: Drilling Valve Holes.
Thanks,
The other wheel on the bike is Shraeder and I already have a lot of inner tubes.
Too much invested to change now.

Drilling Valve Holes.
I have just bought a 21mm Exal Rim and to my surprise it is only drilled to 6.5mm for a Presta valve. I had assumed that a MTB style rim would take a car type valve. I guess that I can just put a drill through the hole with my hand drill and make it out to 8mm. Anyone know any reason why not? and is...
