Re: Goodbye Tony Blackburn: Fall Guy
I only ask because the latest issue of Private Eye outlines the Sun's misreporting of events and amnesia regarding its own role. The Sun was one of the few that did dare to raise the subject (while he was living) and had to fork out £200,000 as a punishment for doing so. Saville's most powerful all...

Re: Goodbye Tony Blackburn: Fall Guy
There are still plenty of schools where bullying is a problem, though.
It wasnt difficult to find out which, you just listen to some kids and all is revealed quite quickly!
That is if you are not too terrified of being accused of being a pedophile to talk to children in the first place.

Re: E bikes - do you secretly want one?
I am not sure what it is with you guys (assuming the majority are guys!) and your patronising attitude to ebike riders. I have just read the whole thread again. If it is patronising, then it is no more patronising than occurs normally about any subject that comes up. I thought the tone of the threa...

Re: Goodbye Tony Blackburn: Fall Guy
Therefore a reasonable way forward would be to allow people to opt out of funding the BBC in order to register a meaningful protest at the corporation's disgusting involvement in this matter. This is entirely possible as nothing the BBC does is a necessity of life, and so there is really no good re...

Re: Goodbye Tony Blackburn: Fall Guy
Although that 1% is from studies on men in Germany, Norway and Finland. The age of consent in Germany is 14. So a tendency in a man to find a 15 year old sexually attractive would class him as a pedophile here but not there. It is strange how such an abhorrent and disgusting crime can become a lovi...

Re: Should the BBC be privatised?
The broadband isnt good enough to stream, I have just run another check and there is still no digital TV* or radio coverage in my area, I wouldnt pay a licence fee for those reasons too.
*though the area as a whole is fully switched over to digital.

It really is about time this was introduced ,just to stop all the freeloaders
I didnt have a TV before iPlayer and I will be perfectly happy to forgo it, if it develops a licence requirement.

Re: Should the BBC be privatised?
and wouldn't apply if watching other catch-up services such as ITV Hub and Channel 4's On Demand. Yet another perverse decision. You will need a licence to watch ITV (which isnt a BBC service) on TV but not on catch up. Yet the justification for making BBC iPlayer subject to a licence, is that you ...

I didnt think that there was any such requirement, certainly not on the owners.

Re: Should the BBC be privatised?
I can understand somebody not wanting to pay a licence fee but I cant understand wanting to remove the BBC. I dont approve of Sky and I dont subscribe to it but it isnt really any of my business if it exists or not, that is for its customers to decide. The vast parts of the BBC output which doesnt d...

Re: TV licence payment
The government is to rush through legislation to close the “iPlayer loophole”, which allows people to watch BBC shows on catchup services without having a TV licence. So things might change (but not for me as I don't tend to watch BBC live and don't use iPlayer) - but I'll still have to keep paying...

Re: TV licence payment
I think you need good journalism for that sort of quality control. You do, I spent a large proportion of my life mistakenly believing that the BBC provided such a thing. At least most people understand that the stuff on the internet is unreliable, rather than taking it on faith. They dont apply the...

Re: DEMAND FOR A POLL OF THE WHOLE CLUB
I have two thoughts on that. I dont think that situation exists any longer. After the vote the CTC became a charity at that point we lost all say in what happens. I dont think that the vast majority of CTC "members*" really give a hoot and will rubber stamp what ever proposal is presented ...

Re: Goodbye Tony Blackburn: Fall Guy
I think the BBC should be banned from working with children. Throwing out the baby with the bathwater. There are two mainstream childrens' channels plus all the local ones which have a daily interaction with hundreds of children. This is much relished by those children and their parents. Has any sc...

Re: DEMAND FOR A POLL OF THE WHOLE CLUB
I am not sure that a "touring" division would expect much. I am pretty resigned to the club being "lost" and now being a Charity. I think that most riders in the sections would be happy to continue with a "live and let live" attitude to Cycling UK. Pretty much like affi...
