Re: How fast do you go down hills?
I've clocked 46.2 mph down Clarken Combe which is the road on the Long Ashton side of Ashton Court, did the same road again and only hit 40 mph
think it was down to the night vision jacket flapping in the wind but it did have a smooth tarmac surface. Made the effort to ride upto the A46 and ride down into Bath but the road surface was rough and didn't get much above 40 mph, the road isn't as steep as it looks.

Re: Mr clumsy messes up dynamo wiring
Do modern dynamos still use the frame as an earth? The only time I had a dynamo on my mtb I used speaker wire from the BB generator to the front light.

Re: nuicance phone calls
People with clipboards in the street stopping me and asking 'Can you answer a couple of questions?', '"there's one of your couple!' is the usual response as I walk off.

Yes. Import one clip at a time and drag it onto the timeline then do likewise with the next clip. I don't use WMM as I find it too slow when saving the clips, maybe it's the way I save them. I use VirtualDub which is a free download from sourceforge and you can do as you want above plus a lot more. It does take some playing with to get the results you want and much googling to see if others have a solution to your problem. You do need to get hold of a codec pack to save the movies in VirtualDub as uncompressed clips are huge, something like 1Gb+ for a 30 second clip
HTH.

Re: nuicance phone calls
When I lived at home with my Dad they always called as I made the first incision into that nights' tea but with caller display the withheld numbers were dealt with accordingly. I do remember telling one caller that I was goingto put the handest down beside the phone and walk away, when I came back 5 minutes later he was still expecting to talk to me. Another trick I used to pull was when they'd ask for Mr Txxxx, which one? was my response then be the one they didn't want to speak to.

Re: Ahhhh booking bike on Train !
Me and two friends wanted to go to London and take our partners with us, the two wheeled variety
Finding cheap deals for us was no problem but finding cheap deals with bike spaces was impossible, I found the train times online, trainline.com and southwest trains but no bike booking option. Incidently if I looke on SWT website the tickets were £1-£2 cheaper but meant I had to get from Paddington to Waterloo

Re: Bike Route Toaster
The estimated times I've been getting have been a little on the long side, 5 hours for a 10 mile commute means I better leave now
TBH I don't really take much notice of the time estimate, I only use it to plot routes to upload the 705 that I then ignore.
A quick route plot I did a few mins ago
Distance 12.90 miles
Estimated Time 1:57:37

Re: Smart Lights Model BP507
I used Maplin's for a SLA battery for my Smart lights when I needed a replacement even though I was in the cycle trade. IIRC Maplin wanted £10 and the trade price I would have paid on the same spec battery was £11 + 17.5% vat. The shape of your battery might prove harder to find in Maplin etc.

Re: Do you ever use your back brake?
When I had a MTB with v brakes I was using the front much more than the rear. I would replace the front pads 3/1 rear.

Most computers have a flush button on the bottom that needs the push of a pen or similar to reset them.

Re: Bath - Clifton off road?
There are routes available and these are readily marked in red on Bikeroutetoaster if you use the 'cycle' option. Looking quickly at the route it takes you into the centre then along the river, across the river to the bottom of Ashton Court, up through Ashton Court and across the bridge into Clifton. The shorter option is ride to Temple Meads and get the train into Clifton

Where did they hide the bolt head?
eg. under a sticker in the middle of the QR lever? (opposite side to the photo?)
Doesn't look like there was a sticker hiding the bolt
