Do I need 'cycling shoes'?
Ive had a pair of Scott MTB style shoes for about 10 years and they are now falling to bits. I dont use cleats (although the shoes have the necessary fitments) - I use wide flat pedals and strapless toe clips. My question is - do I need to replace the cycle specific shoes (with similar, with rigid s...

Re: Ultegra short cage mech with 32 tooth cassette
Hi Andy. No I didnt fit a new chain. However I think its ok, as the angle of the cage is consistent with a correct length at both extremes. I may measure and fit a new one though now, just in case.

Re: Ultegra short cage mech with 32 tooth cassette
Cheers Brucey. The hanger is straight (Ive had an alignment tool on it - it did need 'tweaking') and Ive fitted a new inner cable.

Ultegra short cage mech with 32 tooth cassette
Ive recently bought a second hand ribble with a 11-25 tooth rear cassette - Ive swapped it out for an 11-32. Ive screwed the B screw right in and have clearance between the jockey wheel and the 32 tooth gear. Everything changes smoothly except on the 2 or 3 lowest gears, they are 'hanging'. I can ge...

Ive got a Voodoo Hoodo MTB and I want to swap the suspension forks for solid (preferably steel) disc compatible forks - does anyone know if this is doable?

Re: Lightweight packable jacket.
Im a big fan of the Altura Pocket Rocket - I'm on my second. A bit short in the body but I don't have a problem with it at all. Pack down very small.

Re: Advice on 2 man tent please...
Hi. Ive used a Vango Banshee 2 person tent for several tours and always found it excellent. It weighs in at 2.2 kg and can be bought for around £100.

Re: Another thing about France…
I toured Brittany last year and Normandy this year - I had no difficulty in finding either a boulangerie/patisserie in almost every village. In addition, I found plenty of the type of hostelries mentioned by the OP in all but the smallest of villages. I may have just got lucky, but for me the French...

Re: My Mercian nightmare continues
Discussing if a frame that is 5mm out is acceptable = OK. Getting personal = not OK. Can everyone either stick to the subject of the frame or let it go please. This is a discussion board - discussions meander. I can see nothing wrong with discussing the merits of an individual washing his dirty lau...

Re: My Mercian nightmare continues
It depends on how they say it frankly. Friendly or sarcastically. But either way if we put up with bad service it will only get worse. How else will they know they're giving bad service if we smile sweetly and say thanks.[/quote] Did you tell the person on the phone that you were not happy with thei...
