Re: Western Islanders' disappointing "advice" for cyclists

Those photos prove that the island is a seething metropolis, plagued by dangerous drivers. Cyclist beware.

Re: Specialized Crosstrail Pro Disc 2011 Hybrid Bike or simi

I have 2 friends that have cross trails and they love them. A decent do it all bike if you don't mind suspension forks. They use them for rough day rides, touring and commuting. The usual advice is to test ride one first.

Re: Off my bike this morning

You will come across the very occasional nutter. I've nothing to advise you on it, but I will tell you what a friend of mine once did. He was cycling slowly in traffic and a chap in a Merc nudged him. He remonstrated. Told to anglosaxonword off. Car now stopped in heavy traffic. My pal was on his o...

Hi Ted. I'm doing exactly the same next year. Portsmouth to St Malo and then 2 weeks to please myself. Cant wait - I'm going the last week in May first week in June, when are you off? I'm enjoying thinking and planning my route right now and I'm sure it will make the winter nights fly by! There are ...

Re: Does the perfect saddle exist?

Another vote for the B17 Standard. Ive had mine for a couple of weeks and its wonderfully comfy. I've had real problems finding the 'ideal' saddle and was beginning to wonder just what 'comfortable' meant on a bike saddle - now I know. :D

car parking at portsmouth

I'm considering sailing to France from, and back to, Portsmouth in May. I need to go in my car but long term car parking at the post would be £140 for 14 days - the ferry fair is only £97 for me and the bike! Does anyone know of a cheaper long term parking option in the Portsmouth area?
cheers

Re: Reducing campsite fees

Next time 4 of you turn up with one man tents and get charged for a full pitch each make sure they give you a pitch each rather than squeezing you all onto on pitch - they will soon see the error of their ways!.

Re: Is a Hybrid Suitable for Touring?

Good bike for the job. A friend of mine completed Hadrians cycleway in 2009 and a 190 mile tour of Northumberland last year on that very model unless I'm mistaken.

Its not about the bodywork, its about the engine. :D

lumpy headset

I was cleaning my bike on the work stand at the weekend and I noticed that when I turn the forks the headset feels lumpy and perhaps a bit stiffer than it shpould be. I've only had the bike 12 months, any idea how I might rectify this problem. Its a Specialised Tricross.

Thanks
