Difference between Schwalbe Durano Tyres

Hi everyone So PX are selling two flavours of the Schwalbe Durano tyre: http://www.planetx.co.uk/i/q/TYSCDURRGW/schwalbe-durano-raceguard-wired-tyre They're calling one version "Black" and another version "HS399". I know that one of those means that it's got a high visibility str...

Re: eBay & inner tubes

buy cheap buy twice indeed. on my Xmas stocking filler list every year I place Schwalbe inner tubes. (yes they're somewhere in the region of £4-£7 EACH!) :!: I rarely need to swap them out, so last I checked I had 5 Schwalbe inner tubes in my spares box. Meaning that I last had to ditch one of the a...

Re: What happened with the Verenti Technique? Doubled in price?

Oh yeah, that much is clear. Mind you, it took 6 weeks to come down £120. It's not that short of a time... Assuming similar rate of change, it should be around £350 in early July... Maybe? I wonder who in their right mind bought the technique at £600... I think my bike is well worth £340. But, £480?...

Re: What happened with the Verenti Technique? Doubled in price?

Thinking back, when I was about to pounce on it at £340, I do believe it was either very late July or most likely August. I feel a bit silly posting this thread now, as that basically explains the whole thing... I'm sure it will be priced very keenly at around £350 again towards the end of the fairw...

Re: Revamping a new old stock bike - advice please

Rubber of some kind - they're Tektro brake blocks (and so are the V brakes). Compared to the shimano brake blocks, they're a lot harder.
I do have spare MTB brake cables and jagwire cable housing (and ferrules). The cables are likely being replaced, the housing is a maybe...

Revamping a new old stock bike - advice please

Hi all, So I'm revamping a barely used bike that's been in storage. It's nothing exciting - a Carrera Crossfire 2 which was new in 2009. It's been used on the road for perhaps 2 months, 4 days a week. It has spent the last 2 years in a garage since we moved and I want to start riding it. Over the ye...

Re: What happened with the Verenti Technique? Doubled in price?

Hard to see what makes it £25 more expensive than the Specialized Allez E5 (also Claris equipped). Nor me! It's a moot point because for the riding that I'm going to be doing I wanted to go sub £500. Especially as I've had a carrera virtuoso before and only sold it because their strangely sized 54 ...

Don't think so... Either way it doesn't explain why the vitus is £405 and don't get me started on the price of the b'twin offerings, which are offered by decathlon, who are French, if memory serves.

What happened with the Verenti Technique? Doubled in price?

I was thinking of getting a road bike last year - and I almost pulled the trigger on a Verenti Technique Claris (2016) which was around £350 at the time. But it was almost autmun and I decided to hold of on the purchase, especially as it wouldn't exactly be my first bike. Now that it's getting sunny...

Re: Hands hurt after returning to riding

It looks like those bars have swiveled forward and down in the stem clamp. Aren't the drops on those bars supposed to be about 45 degrees, making the top bit flat? If so, the hoods would be much higher up. I might be completely wrong, but it just looks weird. I see why you might think that - but no...

Re: Hands hurt after returning to riding

I'll do the bar tape! I'm addicted. Pity you aren't near Somerset. I really hope your pain goes. Foot and hand pain is genuinely grim. I've had both due to the nature of my physical work. I highly recommend comfrey rubbing oil from Natures Aid. Best of luck Vladimir...b Is there any good cider wher...

Have you spotted their back catalogue? https://www.specialized.com/gb/gb/bike-archive/2012/rockhopper/rockhoppercomp/35077 Might help to track it down. Edit, which should lead you to somewhere like here: http://www.srsuntour-cycling.com/service/download-area/consumer-downloads/bike/exploded-views/2...

Re: Hands hurt after returning to riding

I tried to post a reply to this thread but it must have not worked on my end of things. Anyway long story short: I measured the distance between my AC (acromioclavicular) joints yesterday and it kept coming out at 36cm which seems very small. Certainly it's hard to find bars that narrow. The wife mu...

What's the fork on my bike? Specialized Rockhopper Comp 2012

Hi all, So, as the name suggests, what exactly is the fork on my bike? I found some listings that state that it's a SR Suntour XCR. The Evans site says "Custom-tuned SR Suntour 80 or 100mm-travel suspension fork with hydraulic damping and proprietary Spike Valve, lockout with lightweight magnes...

Re: Hands hurt after returning to riding

So actually its a year lay-off, then you are holding the bars differently, and other than that nothing has changed?...... sorry, but you did set that up! Well, yes, basically that's true. As you say the builder has prioritised getting the drops parallel to the ground.....is that because the ...
