Re: slipping seatpost folding bike

Trouble of course is that this solution would partly defeat the idea of a folder ... ?!

slipping seatpost folding bike

Hi ever since I had a folding bike (mine have always been Dahons) I have had - on and off - the problem that the seatpost decided to slip into the tube/frame. On one occasion I wrecked the post clamp by overtightening, so clearly got that one wrong :? . Does anyone have any suggestions (ideally base...

Re: reflective bands

interesting how these discussions develop. I had for a couple of years a hybrid which I used for my regular commute and had pedalite flashing pedals on this. I was told by people who cycled behind me that I was visible "half a mile down the road". Which, in a 60 mile speed limit area is se...

Re: Carradice Barley on SQR system

sorted. Rang Carradice and they told me that they bend these things by hand (steel) and that's obviously not always 100% the same. I now bent it to just about fit with a bag on it but will go to my bike shop later who has a vice and carefully bend it a bit more.

Re: Carradice Barley on SQR system

Have a look at this, it really seems as if the upper bit is angled much more tightly than what I've seen on the web?!

Re: reflective bands

What are you basing that on?
.

I hang them up on the washing line in my back yard (in the dark) and shone a torch on them ... Yes, I saw them but don't think they were "reflective" ...

Re: Carradice Barley on SQR system

Ok, that works BUT ... I cannot fit the SQR on the seat post in such a way that I can then fit the metal bit that's attached to the bag onto the SQR on the seat post. There isn't enough room under the saddle, top hits bottom of rear end of saddle. I looked at all the pics on the web and I know I've ...

reflective bands

Hi I am continuing to cycle into/out of the dark on my daily commute and although I already feel like a moving fair ground with flashing and static lights front and back my wife thinks that I should either get myself a clip-on helmet light or reflective bands for my legs/trousers. I have some but th...

Carradice Barley on SQR system

Hi I finally bought myself a Carradice Barley bag and invested in an SQR bracket. Now trying to fit the bag to the SQR system and am scratching my head. The photocopied instructions provided by CArrdice aren't exactly hi-res, so not that easy to figure out. Understand the bit at the bottom, leather ...

Re: Dynamo hub for Dahon folding bike

Ok, all fitted, lights connected and lights work  . But, at higher speeds there is a 'whirring' noise coming from the hub, is that normal?

Re: Dynamo hub for Dahon folding bike

ok ... wheel with hub fitted, got lights (B+M Lumotec Lyt Senso Plus and D Toplight (both with stand light), wired up (unfortunately didn't order the rubber thingies that should go over the connecters, making it look all neat and tidy, any ideas where to get them from?). Works all fine, easy and wil...

Re: Dynamo hub for Dahon folding bike

Thanks Brycey. Given that no lights were connected, would the hub behave as if lights on?

Re: Dynamo hub for Dahon folding bike

Got the wheel with the Joue II hub fitted. Somebody please help . Is it normal that thre is resistance when having the wheel fitted gi the forks? I mean I spin the wheel and it rotates but quite clearly comes to an early stop, compared to a normal wheel?

Re: Dynamo hub for Dahon folding bike

Ok, bought a Joule II at £59.90 fitted to same rim as on my existing Dahon. So now need lights. Rose seem to sell some good (and below £40) front/rear lights - any suggestions what might be useful and not over the top? I am cycling throughout the winter, partly on unlit back roads.
