Re: Sat Nav

Tried it in Bicyle mode yesterday in the car only real difference I noticed was that it was a bit later in issuing instructions and instead of quoting small distances in points of a mile it quoted them in yards instead. If I use it on the bike I will probably use it only at jubctions and switch off ...

Re: Pavement riding

Saw a couple of mountain bikes fly down the pavement this morning really fast (on a downhill section) right by a school, thankfully its a quiet section of pavement. Where did they end up? they turned off into a Police building! Round here the bobbies patrol on mountain bikes so perhaps they were la...

Yes it is the nuvi 205 I know it has a handle bar mount but that don't mean the battery will last 7 hours on a bike ride.

Sat Nav

I feel this subject should probably be taboo on this site but here goes anyway, Has anyone ever tried using a Garmin 205 sat nav on there cycles, I would have thought the batery would have died long before an all day run was complete?

Re: Do you have a shower at your workplace?

Yes but only because my company converted a building that used to used for training fitters and kept the shower room I shower every day that I cycle in, my trip involves a short 1 mile cycle to the train station and then a 5 mile cycle to work the other end, I cycle all the way home about 15 miles b...

Re: Wheel Sizes

By 'wheels' do you mean rims or tyres? Both are available in sub-1" widths (~17mm internal width for rims, ~23mm external width for tyres

I want to cut down the surface area in contact with the road in order decrease the effort required to propel my cycle forwards.

Wheel Sizes

Does anyone know if you can get 26" wheels in widths less than 1.5" and more importantly can you get wheels to fit?

Re: 'I ain't never hit a rabit ...'

I have never actually hit anything yet but I frquently encounter rabbits, moor hens and ducks but I can not decide if the ducks are arrogant or just plain stupid because no amount of bell ringing will induce them to move any faster

Re: £200-worth of repairs or a new bike?

Right the chainset set is a Suntour SR chainrings are riveted, the rear freewheel is a Shimano 14-16-18-20-22-24-28 and the chain I believe is a KMC all from "On Yer Bike" Yorke Road, Mansfield Woodhouse. P.S. the rear mech I got from them is a Shimano TX31 for £14.95

Re: £200-worth of repairs or a new bike?

Do not know if this is any help but I have just replaced my chainset, chain and free wheel for £50 OK so I let the the LBS do it for an extra £20 because I did not have the time glad I did actually because they found that the rear axle was broke, they also advised me to swap my rear mech and do a bo...
