Which way up

I recently had a very interesting conversation with my LBS it was not until I realised we were talking at cross purposes that I finally managed to understand what he was on about, when he talked about changing up he was refering to physical cog sizes i.e. going from the littlest cog to the biggest c...

Re: Chainsets

Gear Mechs are defenitely both Shimano not sure what model the front one is but the rear one is a Tourney both are original so I suspect the front one is a Tourney. The current chainset is an SR Suntour it has lasted just over 2000 miles possibly due to poor maintenace. I thought I would spend a bit...

Drive Chain

I realise this topic has probably been done to death on here but I need help, can anyone reccomend a chainset, chain and freewheel combination that will not break the bank? Preferably a 14-28/34 freewheel (I do not like the Shimano mega range freewheels) I am open to optoins on the chainset the bike...

Re: wheres your favourite ride

So far one of my favorites has been to go east from Mansfield over the moors to Chatsworth and back, not a particularly long ride by your standards but long enough for me especially witht the rather nice climbs first up through Alton and then up from Beeley on the way back.

Re: Wheels

I think I might have found the problem when I spin the wheel and observe the rim as it passes through the brakes you can see the rim dip as the dip in the tyre passes the brakes so I think it might mean a few spoke adjustments or possibly a trip to the LBS

Suitable Paper Maps

I realise there is probably a post on here somewhere about this but I have been unable to find it. Having moved from Coventry to Manfield some years ago I find I do not have a Bartholomews 1:100,000 map of my current area well actually I want one of the area around Matlock and Chesterfield. I plan a...

Wheels

I have a problem with my front wheel/tyre just past the valve the trye apears to dip, the tyre looks as though it sinks further in to the rim here as opposed to the rest of the way round the wheel. After inflating the tyre a little more the dip is less pronouced. It does not affect my cycling too mu...

Re: Do you wear a helmet?

should we have another poll: how many people have converted their bikes to disc brakes? Disc brakes: -stop you a lot better than rim brakes -work better in the wet than rim brakes -often have better modulation than rim brakes -don't make you hot or sweaty -don't make you look funny -can now be used...

Re: Chain jumping problem

I think its unlikely to be a cable issue, can you somehow get the rear wheel lifted off the ground? I use a length of rope to the roof of my shed or on good day to my pergola or tree. If you can lift the wheel turn the cranks and whilst changing gear get down close and see what is happening ,you po...
