Re: Is storing your bike in your tent safer than locking it nearby when camping..?

You could always ask the site owners if they have a secure place inside to lock it
I've had site owners ask me if I'd like to lock it indoors on the odd occasion.

Re: Carbon seat post finish

Halfords?
Have they used the bike as a test bike for others to try? The seapost does look like it's been inserted and pulled out hence the marks.
Have you asked them, what was their reply?

Bari - Pisa or further

Looking into cycle camping/ hostels with minimal gear next June from Bari - Pisa, mainly following the coast with some inland detours.
Done a quick search for campsites etc and not had much luck. Can anybody offer advice etc or recommend sites they've been to ?
Any advice would be great.
Grazie

Re: Larger chainset on folding bike

Thank you for the reply, I wasn't sure if putting a bigger chainset on would unbalance the nexus hub so to speak.

Larger chainset on folding bike

I own a Dahon folding bike with the original 7 speed nexus hub in the rear wheel and original chainset which has a 38 tooth chain ring with a 16 tooth sprocket.
Could I put 45 chainset on the front with a 21/22 sprocket on the rear with a new chain, and would it all still work?
I understand the gearing would change but I use it for commuting and shopping no major hills to climb.
Thank you

Re: Busch and Muller repair

Thank you for all the helpful advice given. I'll try to find a local electronics repair shop and may go down the hard wired option as opposed to the spade connectors that are currently used, one of which is broken.

Busch and Muller repair

I've recently and rather frustratingly broken a spade connector off my Lumotec IQ2.
Does anybody have experience or could recommend a company in the UK that could repair it? I have contacted B&M but they can't repair it, I don't feel confident tackling the job myself. I would much rather repair than replace if at all possible.
Many thanks

Re: Leather bar tape

Just a point to note, I've used some Spa leather bar tape on a pair of Cinelli bars this week and there was only just enough to wrap them, infact I didn't even use a pair of scissors as it was only just long enough!

Not sure if you've shrunk the heat shrink yet but I've used a hairdryer on a couple of occasions.

I've never had the fortune to meet Brucey but he's always amazed me with his depth of knowledge.
I wish you well for a speedy recovery Brucey, I sincerely hope you're up and about as soon as possible.

Re: Brooks leather grip spokes

gregoryoftours wrote:You can see the set of 3 spokes per grip holding the stack of leather washers together in this photo. Nipples in one end, j-bend on other. You can remove the washers to shorten the grips, and I presume that you'd clip the excess of the spokes.15757.jpg

They actually sell them in a 130mm length and provide a set of 80mm ones to shorten them if you wish to. So there's no need to "clip" the spokes shorter.
I've just purchased a pair and want to reduce the length, hence my initial enquiry.
