Same for the rear, actually :)

Yes, no problem with the rear, but dropout width and chainline become a factor - compared with none of that at the front.
I've got one like in that link, but it's an Elite ST with a singlespeed freewheel.

Re: 18-23 carbon steel frame

I'd be interested to know exactly how 18-23 compares to 531ST (the heaviest 531).

Re: Time for the A4 bicycle wheel

Possibly :) but i'm 6'1in and it's my favourite size. Pashley still make at least one bike in this size. And Pashley still do a 700b bike!

Re: Time for the A4 bicycle wheel

The 26 was a hypothetical size of both wheel and tyre together and the standard of a 26 rim came from that.

Simple solution for the front, fit a Sturmey Archer hub brake and your rim will never wear out :)

Re: Time for the A4 bicycle wheel

The best size has been around for years, 650a, roughly midway between 26 and 700c.

Re: 18-23 carbon steel frame

No steel! That's a bit shocking! Did I hear they are bringing out a fixed gear? Even worse if that's not steel.

Re: 18-23 carbon steel frame

Interesting reading, I wonder if Raleigh still use 18-23 for some of their bikes?

Re: Pashley Clubman Country

I love the ivory version with hub gears, but i'm going to build a lookalike - except fixed gear and north road bars.

Re: 1980s Raleigh Model?

531st is the heaviest 531, has high tensile steel type of weight.
