Re: The frustration of a (long distance) bike buyer...

bogmyrtle, I have nothing specific against the Panorama its just one of those completely non sensical prejudices... go figure. I know they aren't out/available yet but I've had words that would suggest a 'decent' discount can be had on the new 2012 Ultra's despite what appears to be Dawes rules that...

Re: Times CycleSafe - map your local hazards

Isn't this begin driven by the fact that 2 Times journo's have either been killed or very seriously injured in the last 6 months... hence the campaign??

Re: 2011 Ultra Galaxy clearance

Hey guys I'm sure it was just an oversight looking now I see that the 58cm is showing out of stock. As I mentioned in my original post the thing that got me most about it was that I'd have inputted my Credit Card details which I don't like doing on websites at the best of times let alone when there ...

Re: The frustration of a (long distance) bike buyer...

Just want to confirm a few things.... After the initial shock of having my bike stolen I started to look at what options I had in replacing it. I've long had the desire to have a custom bike made by one of the quality low volume UK manufactures i.e. Condor, Roberts et. al. At the time I wasn't expec...

Re: The frustration of a (long distance) bike buyer...

I don't mean to appear rude but my thoughts would be stop pontificating, make a decision and start cycling. Would love to but I want to make a fair comparison of the physical bikes but the 2012 Ultra Galaxy isn't out i.e. with dealers till mid-April. My first choice would have been the 2011 model b...

Re: The frustration of a (long distance) bike buyer...

I've spoken to Spa of Harrogate (and couple of other well known dealers) who offered me a good price BUT its a days travel... It seems a little ironic not to be willing to travel to collect a touring bike. ;) I did a 500 mile round trip in my wife's car on a Saturday morning to collect my bike from...

Touring lights

Originally thought that the question of what lights to get would be pretty straight forward but having checked things out I find that thats not necessarily going to be the case. As I see lights as a safety feature I'm prepared to spend a fair amount of money (without getting silly about it) on them....

My camping mate swears by a Thermarest Neoair.

Sports Direct have them on 'permanent' sale for £85

Re: The frustration of a (long distance) bike buyer...

I guess if I boil this down its going to come down to a LBS and a very small discount say 10% on the accessories but all that LBS love & TLC or go to a place like Spa and others for a days fitting etc and get a much better and noticeable discount on the bike but losing any LBS love & TLC. I'...

Re: The frustration of a (long distance) bike buyer...

Rualaxander, the Thorn does look good BUT as a person that doesn't have the knowledge or experience to make informed decision regarding the options the Dawes package although it might not be perfect is definitely a plus. PH, I hear you regarding buying from Spa. Never really looked into the benefits...

The frustration of a (long distance) bike buyer...

I'm in the market for a Dawes Ultra Galaxy but if something else comes up thats provably better then I'm open to changing my mind. First port of call was Evans Cycles in London. The 'salesperson seemed completely clueless and after about 10 minutes ended up advising me to go to the Cycle Surgery rou...
