Postcards from the edge of Britain by Peter Mann. An excellent account of his tour around the coast of Britain on a Moulton. Much better than Josie Dew's book on a similar journey.

Someone who loves the CTC as much as my husband did before KM came on the scene.

Re: Touring North Morocco
It has been 10 years since we cycled in Morocco and I can second the advice not to enter at Tangiers. We went there in a taxi from Tetouan and the docks area looked manic.
From a cycling point of view the roads are very poor. Traffic out of the towns is very light and posed no threats.
Entering through Ceuta is far easier.
The Riad Dalia hotel in Tetouan is reasonable and clean. If you are venturing out in the Medina and Kasbah, they will find you a guide, we paid him 2 euros.
If there is anything specific you want to ask I will try to answer.

Re: Bricycles in Malvern
A friend of mine who lives in Malvern Link on the advice of my husband took her bike there for repair. She had broken the gear hanger and in the process wrecked the rear mech. They were not interested in doing the repair and told her to take the bike elsewhere.
My husband repaired the bike for her.

Re: New Membership Cycling Organisation
Thank you for that explaination which is not strictly true. Posts are edited or removed for being critical and opposing the views of the GEO and Council. There is nothing in the forums rules that state such opposition isn't allowed.

Re: help! how to get back from France
Some solutions I have researched in the past.
Cardboard boxes can be got at both Carrefour or Decathlon, near to each other on outskirts of Montpellier and open until 7pm on Saturday. My husband flew back from Nimes using this method, he got his box from Decathlon.
NON-TGV train from Monpellier to Avignon. Avignon to Lyon, Lyon to Paris, Paris to channel ports. Sounds complicated but works well and can be done in a day with an early start. On these trains you can take a loaded bike. We did Avignon to Paris with no problem.
One way van rental to Paris (much cheaper). Rent another to channel port and then on ferry as foot passenger with bike. We have used this method to return from Bordeaux.

Re: New Membership Cycling Organisation
Reading previous postings on this topic it appears there has been some editing.
Getting back to the original topic, both me and my husband would be very interested in a new cycling association that returned to the aims and ideals of the Cyclists’ Touring Club.

Thanks to the moderators this Forum has a reputation of being a pleasant place to discuss things
Couldn't disagree more. It has the reputation of being a sanatised forum where proper discussion about the CTC does not take place. This is the reason the real discussions take place on other forums.

Yebbut - that's one off ... it makes no real/significant difference ... say : 50 members = £1.50 per member for year 1, £1 a year thereafter - and IIRC the £50 rate (£75 year 1) allows up to 250 members - so it's really just a micturate in the ocean.
Rob
Hmm, there's obviously some sort of Big Brother sitting behind the forum the description of the item in the ocean was typed as another word in my original post .... perhaps they're just taking the micturate![]()

Did a similar route in 2002 with my husband. Here is a report: http://www.by-bike.co.uk/spain1.htm
There is also a book by a retired denist about his ride from Santander to Gib. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Trans-Iberian-C ... 605&sr=8-1
