The Crask is revered amongst the hill going fraternity. I have stayed there and Alltnaharra and both were good.
All roads to and from Alltnaharra are good.

Re: Cars turning into junctions on the wrong side of the roa
This behaviour is a menace to motorists too. I learned how to turn right and the importance of not cutting the corner from a policeman - Cycling Proficiency training at 9.

Re: No job at the Times for this Journo
These morons are a genuine threat and I meet them when ever I have any correspondance with English media. They are a menace because it reinforces the idiot's views that we are in someway second class (a promotion). Keep shouting bikes are bad and cyclists a menace and the idea of behaving responsibl...

"in this day and age of high security, photo ID is required for the ferry." Time this nonsense stopped. It is an internal passport I was concerned it was a dry run for other island crossings but thank heavens no such crepe on Hebridean routes. Other than civil liberties websites, busy in t...

Rhodes has been a stain on the E&S for years. Were the Sandwich Islands what is now called Hawai'i ? Rhodes in favour of tropical island trips for dobadders!! Mind The Decendants did make it look a bit grim though. I think the idiot meant the South Sandwich Islands, which are a different thing a...

Wannabe moron probably knows - if stuck in traffic you are part of the problem.
If the comment had been made about a skin pigmentation phenotype rather than transport choice, it might be finding life a wee bit more uncomfortable right now.

I remember Rhodes from when I lived in the Black Country. Most unpleasant! He should of course demand that motorised road users carry insurance! The Law does, but many are not listening.

Re: Forest Roads onLochs and Glens Route
The climb out of Aberfoyle would bother me on thin tyres. The logging roads are quite worn with big stones, especially passing the Go Ape area. Once up into Achray Forest, the going improves as you will be on a road which is open for the public to drive on. The surface here is quite good, as with th...

Re: Boycott Scotland - Do Not Holiday There
"I would encourage anyone planning a cycle tour or maybe a general holiday to do their homework on the places they are thinking of visiting, and maybe factor in a moral/ethical dimension to their plans. " As most of us have a sense of proportion that is good advice. Scotland would be prett...

Re: Western Islanders' disappointing "advice" for cyclists
Why do folk on an island think that the rules of the road do not apply to them. Use passing places to allow overtaking. A single track road on Tiree is no different to a single track road anywhere - or double track for that matter. I have had traffic backed up behind me while touring (on a climb, na...

Re: Boycott Scotland - Do Not Holiday There
What on earth has this got to do with touring? Perhaps the OP better stay away in case they are unable to resist the temptation to get even with the insect life. Of course they must slow down on the hills, lest they smash some poor midge to smithereens.
Ah bless.

Re: Western Islanders' disappointing "advice" for cyclists
Ignore it - just behave as you should on single track roads on the mainland - use passing places to facilitate overtaking. The Highway Code applies to us, even if some folk think it does not apply to them. It's a pretty badly worded piece - the publisher should be put to work removing all the "...
