Re: inner tube sizes

The box size is nominal: most manufactures recommend the *range* of sizes of tyre a tube will fit (width and diameter), so if the shop site does not have the range, then check the manufactures site. FWIW I usually by Schwalbe or Contis.

I think it depends where you cycle: as a teenager (late 70s/early 80s) I experimented with capes: and they make a definite differences cycling over the Peak District moors in strong/gusty winds :-(
(Luckily for me Goretex then came out !)

But they still get dirty when you ride them !! (I forgot to mention that I took to keeping a small plastic bag covering the dynamo when it was not in use, but this was not enough !!)

Re: Why Soubitez BB generators no longer made

When they first came out I had a Sanyo and later a Soubitez: both had problems in the wet, and both died a mud-death.

Re: Which piece of cycling equipment had the greatest impact for

1) Without a doubt recumbent bikes ! After years of saddle pain, despite trying many different saddles, seat heights, shorts, creams etc when I bought my first recumbent there was the answer :-) I've hardly ridden an upright since !

2) The others: LED front lights, SPDs, GoreTex, more puncture resistant tyres.
