I run campag 10speed shifters and mechs on my audax bike. I want some sprightly 'traditional' (32 spoke 3 cross) wheels. I cant afford campag record hubs. Should I buy Ambrosio zenith hubs which will fit campag cassettes, or buy shimano hubs (probably 105 but possibly ultegra) and run a campag space...

I've driven to the start of audaxes, but also ridden to some too. Some folks ride overnight to the start, do an event then ride home again, but such feats are always treated in a wonderfully understated way. Audax is brilliant! Great routes, cafe stops worked out for you and great camaraderie. Be aware that they are highly addictive though, I started out with local 200km rides, then almost inexplicably found myself traversing Lincolnshire in the middle of the night...
