Re: Which piece of cycling equipment had the greatest impact for
It has to be a primus stove clipped on to the top bar of a bike. After twenty five or thirty miles stop, get the stove lit up, starters a can of soup heated up in the mess tin followed by a kettle of fresh tea then relax for an hour or so. None of these stainless flasks for me my cafe is on the top bar of my bike. Real cycle tourists use primus stoves. No touring bike should be sold without one. DC

Re: Tennis racket holder thingy
Hi if you want to see a photograph of a terrys tennis racket clip on a bike go to 'crazy guy on a bike site' and look at the joys of cycling in the fifties by Paddy McGahey. There are lots of good photographs of cycle touring in the fifties and information on the famous terry clips. Regards DC

Spa one of the best
I think it has been said many times before, Spa cycles are one of the best cycle shops in the UK. Ordered goods on Friday morning, arrived on Saturday morning and that was a delivery to Belfast. They also stock items which are hard to come by in the UK i.e. forty hole cycle rims etc. and all their items are keenly priced and post free. So fellow cyclists try Spa Cycles for your cycling needs, you won't go far wrong.

Re: if they will vote at the AGM?
Yes John you are right, no matter what the council say they are slowly doing away with the winged wheel logo. They have denied this for years but even the dogs in the street know it's true. They seem to think that by having a trendy logo that it will attract young blood into the CTC, how wrong can you be. Some multi national companies would give a fortune to have a logo like the winged wheel and it's demise is a sad reflection on the council. Hang your heads in shame council. DC

Winged wheel transfers
Hi as far as I can see the CTC council are doing their best to drop the winged wheel as our emblem of the CTC and replace it with a trendy logo. Shame on them, the cyclists of yesteryear would turn in their graves if they knew the way this club is now being run. You would not get Rolls Royce or Mercedes Benz getting rid of their logo. Tesco tubes
I saw while at my local Tesco shop today that they were selling a line of cycle goods, Helmets, bottles, lights, locks etc., but best of all was a selection of cycle tubes only £1.47 each. Unfortunately they did not have 700c size, 599 was the largest they seem to do and that was with schriber valve. Pity. DC

Hernia & cycling
I had a hernia operation about 18 months ago, I am in my sixties and reasonably fit. It took about two months to get back on the bike again and I have no problems since, you should have the operation done because doctors told me the older you get the worse it will become. Its quite a common operation in and out of hospital on the same day and rest up for a couple of weeks. Regards DC

Contact details for trader "HARD TO FIND"
Does anyone know of a cycle dealer called Hard to Find. He used to advertise in Cycle Touring a while back, he sold cycling accessories which were hard to find. Does anyone if he is still in existance and how to contact him. Regards DC
