Re: Touring bike build - questions?

Yes, the TDF is rather long. They used the same geometry for the 2016 flatbar edition, so it isn't really tuned for drop bars. The 2015 had another framed with dropbar geometry.

Re: Hybrid winter tyres *Newbie*

I notice that the marathon winter has approx 240 studs in 4 rows and the winter around 120 studs having just the centre rows populated. From images there appear to be stud holes in the outer unpopulated rows of the winter, so is it the case you can buy the spare studs and tool( around £10 for 50 ) ...

Re: Hybrid winter tyres *Newbie*

Schwalbe Marathon Winter is a pretty standard choice for studded tyres. They should have enough pattern to tackle gravel and path, and come in many sizes. If you are going seriously off road you can also get MTB-tyres with studs. But I don't think they will be very nice on the road if you spend most...

Re: Custom 9 speed 12-32 cassette?

Have you considered using BBB cassettes. You can build a 12-14-16-18-20-22-24-28-32 from a 12/13/14/15/16/18/20/22/25 and a 11/12/14/16/18/20/24/28/32. See https://bbbcycling.com/en/bike-parts/cassettes/BCS-09S Not the cheapest solution but at least you get your ideal cassette. There is usually a g...

Re: Cheap Chain

Several years back one of the online retailers were punting out end-of-line Shimano 8 speed (HG50 at the time?) chains for £1.99 each, I bought rather a lot of them and have only just run out now. It does pay to keep an eye on the shops and stockpile when a good bargain crops up! Lucky you. Sourcin...

Re: Unusual vintage multi size spanner

Stupid Swedes...

The "official" name here in Denmark is also skiftenøgle (basically meaning adjustable spanner) but Swedish key is used in daily life.

Re: Unusual vintage multi size spanner

In Southern Germany(perhaps North too?)and german speaking Switzerland a conventional adustable spanner, sliding jaw type, is known as an "Engländer", which has, in the past, been the source of some amusment!! In Italian, they're called 'chiave inglese', which also means English key. I'll...

Re: SPA CYCLES STEEL TOURING FRAMES

Back to topic, does anyone here have an idea when we might see the Steel Tourer Disc frame from Spa in retail? Hopefully we are on the final prototype, which means it might be mid next year. How much of a load and how big a tyre are you looking for? This one.... https://c1.staticflickr.com/5/4388/3...
