Re: Disc frame touring build..or just go buy a bike?

'boink' the list is endless, Ridgeback Panorama, (Swinnertons, thats where I bought my Panorama deluxe 3 years ago) , Salsa Vaya / Marakesh, also, there is the likes of the Shand Staoter, around 10 1/2 kg with a steel fork, but arounf £1100 for the frame. The very best of luck with your search. I wi...

Re: Disc frame touring build..or just go buy a bike?

Yostumpy Sorry to put you on the spot, but what makes Hydros so much better than cable discs? I'm trying to get to the bottom of it,people keep saying they're so much better but I've never felt the need to swap my BB7's(I did swap from Spyres to BB7's but that's another story)for hydros. That IS a t...

Re: Disc frame touring build..or just go buy a bike?

I went from a Bob Jackson World Tour, with cantilever brakes, to a Disc brake tourer when the BJ was written off in an RTA. I could have got the frame repaired/new frame, but went for the disc option, and sold most of the old parts. Brakes are TRP spyre, which are fine, if not good. I have swapped t...

Re: Brooks saddle, a newbie question.

Regarding slipperyness, yes Brooks B17's are compared to the Spa Nidd. I found a small fingernail's scrape of proofide deposited on each sit bone area, before a ride, and rubbed in slightly in a small area, would be sufficient to reduce slipperyness. Interestingly, once riding , and hot and a bit sw...

Re: Does moving the cleats back load your quads?

I wonder what would have happened if 531Colin had only moved his seat back 10mm and not adjusted the cleats. I also wonder his world famous 'setting up' instructions would now be different, Colin always looked to be too far forward, to me, just my observation.

Re: Bike fit - change from mtb to tourer with drop bars

Possibly you could fit/ have lbs fit, short reach levers ( tektro?) , bar end shifters, and even cross top levers as well. They should be able to swap out the new parts.

Re: Saddle Height - Which Indicator More Reliable

I had a similar thread, about October/Nov last year, my 'established ' seat height was too high. It is now some 18 mm ish Lower than it had been for prob 20 years. Having read this post, I re read my old one, and checked the Le Mond .88 figure, to the dimples, first time I have done so, and it's act...
