Re: Brooks and Spa saddles.

i'd say 20mm was a tad optimistic, but if some kind person could mimic my dims, but with a b17, we would have a difinative answer, I'd say prob more like 12-15mm. but I am guessing. well, managed to get out for a quick 40km t'smornin', and apart from a 'fettle' after 1km, to lower the post about 5mm...

Re: 32 hole V 36 hole?

i have 36 rear Spa chrina, and 32 spa chrina with schmidt up front, bin like that 5+years, and I'm no lightweight, had a couple of spokes go , non drive side rear, but up front straight and true. Little weight up front and the spokes are shorter due to the flanges of the dyno hub. IIRC

Re: will a bagman damage my saddle/bike?

I had one for a long time, with a brooks Pro. but then one day the bike was propped up against a wall, , but the wind blew it over. the bike obviously landed on its side but most of the force was taken by the saddlebag, unfortunately the twisting action snapped a saddle rail!

Re: Can I Do This? (fit disk brakes to old MTB)

looked into this for my old Orange P7, ok its got suspension forks, but it will cost you a fair bit really, better off buying a disc spec carrerra subway ltd, at halfords, incredible value at the mo, less than £200 at the mo was £450. I worked out that a pair of clarkes cable discs would be £50 ish,...

Hmm! I've got a Pearson , with 9 speed veloce ergo shifters, but couldn't get on with them, always hunting up and down the gears 'coz they're there'. so disconnected them, and fitted old campag downtube friction levers, prob 6 speed ish, and they work fine, no probs at all, can get all the gears, an...

Re: Best Layback Seatpost for Brooks

I recently bought an Ambrosio Momentum which has 45mm set-back & a brilliant infinitely adjustable rail clamp. I think it's only available in 27.2. Bought it off e-bay from what I think is Dave Hindes emporium but had no issues. I had an ambrosio post like this, Most post are like a cupped hand...

Re: Best Layback Seatpost for Brooks

I seem to remember , in old adverts of about '82-84 ish from maddison in the ctc mags, something called 'RAILZ' these were effectively another set of seat rails, , d...
