Re: Saddle height

just as a slight update, and bearing in mind comments from SamuelD, and Colin531, I got to thinking about this. I had noticed knee pain, rear/side of right knee, then I realised that my saddle was actually too high.. , so I lowered it approx 5mm ( in 2 goes) , but anticipating altering the st...

Re: Saddle height

I know what you mean about tinkering Colin, I'm the worlds worst for seat fettling. As an aside, which GB saddle do you have? Aspin? you must like them. I have a Spa Nidd, 5+ years now, and , well I'm considering an Aspin. I used to have a Brooks B17, then it sagged, hammock'd, and as my bars are 2&...

Re: How far?

I used to commute, avg 200km a week, plus a200km Audax 3 or 4 times a year, plus the odd weekend ride of 70km ish Now I commute maybe 100-150km a week and a shorter sat ride of around 50km. I have a chum, who's not been well, and who I now 'escort' out on rides on the sat, under instruction from his...

Re: E-MTB vs. Non-E

The only person that can answer that, is sitting at your keyboard. Back in about 1992 I had some spare cash, and it was a descision between and 'enduro' motorcycle, (road legal but for trail riding, green lanes etc) or a NEW then, MTB before they were fashionable. Both about the same money, But iI o...

Re: Saddle height

Re: Saddle height

Any observations from the cognoscenti? Good video, you ride slightly 'knock knee'd' , knees moving inward at the top of the pedal rotation, and the chap in the orange top, when he pulls away from the junction, and rides out of the saddle, he almost hits the saddle with his bum, each time his pedals...

Re: Saddle height

1.07....hmmm.......IIRC it came from a book , called 'Adventure Cycling' written in the 70's by Tim Hughes. It suggests the lower 1.07 height as slightly more suitable for Rough Stuff, this of course was when folks did proper Rough Stuff on touring bikes, with a saddlebag.

Re: Saddle height

haha! play with it! up and down! believe me, the clamp bolt is almost worn out, ditto the twin bolt adjuster on the post. I always come back to its original position. I used to do quite a few 200km Audax rides, with a higher seat, but just the thought of doing 200 km now, makes my legs ache. maybe I...

Yes, lack of power , or oomph! When a hill appears, anything of any significance has me out of the saddle
