Hotel in cologne tonight. Then winging it Plan to wild camp on hohe acht and somewhere around rurburg in the eifel national park Other than that no idea. At departure lounge at stanstead now, its actually nice and quiet. I'm a trendy consumer. Just look at my SM-A705FN using hovercraft full of eels.

Re: Europe is open - who's going?
I'm off on Sunday - all the .gov pages have travel updates and right now everywhere is good to go. Insurance including covid contraction cover is available now. I fly into Cologne, will head for Koblenz and then spend some time pottering around the Moselle/Nurburgring/Eiffel area, will then maybe po...

Re: Europe is open - who's going?
The thing i don't understand about not excepting foot/bike bookings is if on the ferry to spain for instance are they expecting all the people to sit in their vehicles for 24hrs of the crossing? when all those people get out of their cars and go into the ferry what difference would it make from a f...

Re: Europe is open - who's going?
I have a return crossing booked with Stena for mid August and I haven't heard from Stena that there is a problem. Also have a B&B booked in the Netherlands although without breakfast. I had a brief email with the owner the other and that's all ok. I'm optimistic and looking forward. I hope it d...

Re: Saracen Tange MTB for touring - keep or ditch for touring and rough stuff
Hi everyone. I've been commuting to work for the last year after a job change and now commute, go grocery shopping, and just about everywhere on this thing! It's a Saracen Powertrax 1996 MTB with Tange MTB tubing (not sure how good this frame actually is tbh - could someone enlighten me?) Bought of...

Re: Crossing the Yare and Bure
for the yare it's norwich, reedham or yarmouth - otherwise you need to swim
the bure has a fair few places to cross it except for the bits between wroxham and acle and acle and yarmouth (which to be fair is most of it!)

Re: Polecamping in Netherlands
I've been to one, Avelingen
it was a small patch of land near a river where you could camp for free
thats pretty much it, no facilites of any kind so it's wild camping with no fear of getting caught. expect other people to be there.

Re: Titanium Touring Frame - CdF or ???
i have a CDF Ti, a 2018 model I built mine up from F+F. It is a great bike, i love it and pretty much use it for everything nowadays Mine meets all of your requirements except a couple: It won't take a front rack (well the carbon fork mine came with doesn't) you could get a different fork though tha...

Re: Maintenance and toolkit when touring
This elaborates on my point. I bought a decent bike with decent components: The idea that it won't last more than a week without maintenance is ridiculous What always worries me with these posts is that they are likely to frighten off beginners or people who don't want to or can't do maintenance whi...

Re: Maintenance and toolkit when touring
i haven't read any of the 3 pages of this thread
but just wanted to say, for a week's tour i wouldn't take any more tools/stuff than i would on a normal ride
i also wouldn't do any maintenance other than if something went wrong or started rattling
