Re: Norwich to Lowestoft through The Broads
Road access to the broads is non existent? What are you on about????? :D :D :D They're all right near roads pretty much! the a149 at rollesby goes straight between 2 of them, and has a car park. You can park right by one at Filby bridge at martham, horsey hickling and barton turf there are roads rig...

Re: Dutch cycle routes - iphone navigation ?
get oruxmaps if you have android then get these maps: http://www.openfietsmap.nl/downloads/bnl_full and you'll have the best chance possible of navigating the horrible 2 digit system used in southern holland. or you would be better off going to Germany where they use proper signs telling you which w...

Re: Norwich to Lowestoft through The Broads
Although having just read the title, please bear in mind that the routes mentioned will take you nowhere near the proper broads. To do that you would want to go from norwich up to wroxham, then maybe across through ludham and on to rollesby or maybe hickling. this isn't really the best way to lowest...

Re: Norwich to Lowestoft through The Broads
Norwich - Surlingham - Claxton - Chedgrave - Loddon -Hales - Raveningham - Gillingham - Beccles - Worlingham - Barnby - Mutford - Carlton Colville - Lowestoft. No main roads and cycle track from Carlton \\colville to the middle of Lowestoft. Its a great ride and one we do often - if sometimes in pa...

Re: Looking For Advice For Mosel/Rhein Tour
I'm still amazed at the amount of designated cycle routes (even between villages) that the Germans have. I love my bike and am lucky enough to live in a nice part od Scotland (the East Neuk of Fife) but you share A and B class roads with everyone and their gran when you go out After Koblenz i came ...

Re: Looking For Advice For Mosel/Rhein Tour
I did this route start of june Flew in to luxembourg, cycled to remich and then all the way along the mosel to koblenz i did it in 2 days though (i had a bunch of other stuff to fit into my week) remich to koblenz along the river cycle path is about 150 miles, it's flat (obviously) and easy cycling,...

Re: Arrangements for Trangia fuel bottle on flights
week before last i went to germany and had similar thoughts
i didn't take any fuel (you can't on a plane) or a bottle
i bought a bottle of brennspiritus and decanted it into an empty 300ml water bottle
i don't see why you wouldn't be able to take your trangia bottle in hold luggage though

Re: Frankfurt to Norwich 10th OCT
went and did this ride, had a cold snap that week! every other week around then was good temps, that week it barely made 5 each day. the first 2 days were cold but bright and were quite nice. camping in minus temperatures isn't my thing though. after that it pretty much rained the entire time and ea...

Re: Frankfurt to Hook Of Holland in the next couple of weeks
Bear in mind that Frankfurt city is several miles east of the airport ie the wrong direction! I would consider looking at Mainz area for that first night. There isn't a huge number of camp sites on the Rhein itself, wild camping might be more possible north of Duisburg. Can't tell you if they will ...

Zombie thread alert! Thanks for the useful posts. Sorry I didn't reply sooner, some life happened and I never got away last year. I have however booked this trip for this year. Unfortunately I can only manage to do it in October again. I fly to frankfurt on the 10th, think i will stay there the firs...

Frankfurt to Norwich 10th OCT
Hi all, just looking for some quick advice and tips I have some time off work left this year and am considering flying into frankfurt and cycling to the hook of holland to catch the ferry back. I live in norwich so flying out from stansted and coming back to harwich is fairly convenient. I'd just ha...
