Re: Viscount bicycles!!
Hi, that bike definately wasn't mine. When i got home mine was right where i left it in the spare room. It's the same spec as mine by the look of things (if they had both been original when we got them) but mine was a fair bit bigger and my fork was horrible but that paint was reasonably good, yours...

Re: Viscount bicycles!!
i've just popped back to this thread after a good while and I'd imagine it's too late for any input as you'll have probably done your resto by now but that is a proper nice find. It's different, a good colour and looks in really good condition. Hi all, another lurker here. I've just accquired a Visc...

Re: Viscount bicycles!!
Hi all, does anyone here want to buy my viscount wheels? I'm changing my bike about a bit and won't need them. They are viscount ones from 1976 and have viscount hubs and q/r skewers. One rim has been changed at some point however. They are In pretty good condition, run smooth and true. Complete wit...

Front Rack Issues
Hi all, I don't know if this is me being thick or what but i'm struggling with my front rack. I've got a galaxy with two sets of eyelets at the front, as far as i'm aware the front are for racks and the rear are for mudguards. But i recently bought some cheap lowriders just to try out and get up and...

Re: Viscount bicycles!!
First, they do a threadless bottom bracket for stripped shells. The really good thing about this one - apart from the good build quality and reasonable price - is that you do not need to chamfer or face the shell (unlike the Mavic or JST ones) so you could revert back to the OEM sealed bearing meth...

Re: Viscount bicycles!!
I sold the old stem ages back when I bought the aero bars to help pay for the refurb. Wish I hadn't now! They are the forks it came with. I attacked them with nitromors then went for a diy job with rattle cans, several coats of primer/silver/lacquer and I got a pretty good finish. I was looking for ...

Re: Viscount bicycles!!
Thought i'd give you a quick update on my aerospace seeing as i've just now finished it. I originally had an aero stem and bars on it but found they weren't brilliant for my intended use for the bike which is pottering around the city going to the shops and the pub. The aero ones were too far out fr...

Re: Viscount bicycles!!
Finally got my refurb pretty much finished. It's not necessarily one for the purists though! What was going to be a simple clean and overhaul to make an everyday bike kinda evolved into something else. Ended up sticking on a TT style stem and bullbars with aero brake levers. Then added some dura-ace...

Re: Viscount bicycles!!
I already said I apologised for my tone being off, I was hacked off at the time of writing and I realised that. That doesn't make my point about the suggested options any less valid though. I appreciate the advice but three out of the 5 are non starters because you simply can't get the parts. And ho...

Re: Viscount bicycles!!
Hi all, i've been collecting parts and stripping my viscount for rebuild which i started today. However when stripping it the BB bearings were shot so I got some replacements. But when refitting, due to the fact the spindle is made of soft cheese i've managed to ruin it. So now i need either anothe...

Re: Viscount bicycles!!
Hi mate. cheers for the info. I did actually use that pic of yours for comparisons before I bought it as i figured it was the same model. In what way is my chainset different? it looks the same as yours (although your pic isn't the biggest) I'm going to clean it up, change the seat and bars/brakelev...

Re: Viscount bicycles!!
Final price was £51, i got it for a discounted 50!! The forks are nasty, kinda pink and faded. they will want painting or replacing sharpish! Apart from that it's not bad at all, there are a fair few chip but that's to be expected, a good cleanup will do wonders. I've ordered a seatpost (i believe i...
