Not all of us working in the public sector earn loads, and our pensions are not as good as they once were at least not in the NHS. Nor do we get any preference on waiting lists. We do however have plenty of stress and are expected to do more and more for the same or with the same resources. That sai...

As posted elsewhere, I got slapped yesterday morning, by a car passenger while moving. A "h**py slap" as opposed to one in anger, but it is being treated as assault/ABH by the old bill. I was hoping this sort of craze had finished. It's absolutely insane and I'm glad the police are taking...

Doesn't it go deeper than just drivers and cyclists? We seem to live in a society where the individual is king and can do anything he or she wants, where courtesy, politeness and manners are old hat and unless rewardable, ignored. One day the love of money and selfishness will become extinct, it's a...

I think you need to deal with the anxiety first, learn some relaxation techniques then think about returning to cycling. Have a chat with your GP and see if they can recommend some psychotherapists or hypnotherapists/NLP practitioners. Find out why it's an issue and deal with it. Good luck.

It's assault however else it might be classified and that means a crime of violence. Given the standing of the victim, the police might just do something other than lose the paperwork. I hope you got an incident number. Such behaviour cannot be tolerated. I hope it hasn't put you off cycling. Good l...

Plantar fasciitis is caused by stress on the plantar fascia or ligament which is inserted behind the metatarsal heads and runs to the calcaneum or heel bone. It can be very disabling, raising the heel slightly shortens the fascia and allows it rest, hence the success of heel pads and other orthotics...

The west Dorset saturday group cycled despite the rain, had a nice lunch and got soaked for our pains. Only did 35 miles but it was enough in the wind and rain. Incidentally Wheeliebin, my cat attacked me before the ride, I have several scratches and bite marks. Didn't do anything to provoke him, bu...

Despite all that Horizon, I still insure mine every year. i do it through CTC with Butterworth Insurance Services. Look on the CTC website.

Make sure that your insurance covers any damage you may cause to a third party, such as a pedestrian or stationary car.
