Re: Call to Prosecute Near Miss Cyclists
Hi There, A few points spring to mind, (1) I'm almost certain that there are warning lights at these crossings. (2) Why are "Half Barriers" permitted? They encourage slaloming! (3) Why where Police not properly deployed?
The solution is quite simple, easy to enforce safe passage. In the event of a barrier being closed all riders should stop! The lead vehicle of the breakaway should stop them, the next lead vehicle should stop any chasers, with the Peleton being also stopped.
As the Barriers are raised all riders should then be released. As the race is fully contactable by radio there would be no difficulty, all riders maintaining the same time gap.
No "Blood On The Rails" either! TTFN MM

Hi There, My issue with the "EB Beer Festival" have been stated before, chiefly their "Narrow Mindedness" (Trike restrictions).
But sadly the CTC Management are slipping back into the same narrow outlook, since Kevin Mayne departed?
Mr Tuohy talks of getting "50'000 people to start using their neglected bikes again"! Not quite the inclusive words needed.
For many years I refused to renew my membership, while the CTC used the strapline "Keeping you on two wheels", that was until confronted Kevin about it. I now regret getting a 5 year subscription, as new management = old thinking!
The CTC should not be actively promoting the "Beer Fest" to the detriment of other event over the same period, although as has been previously stated the new ethos of the so called charity is not very charitable! TTFN MM

Polling Woes?
Hi there, I fail to see the point of the CTC Management setting up a "Canvas the Candidates" facility on-line? As Parliament has been dissolved the lazy former members will merely have a "Gone Fishing" type message, mine did!
We are all being urged to get on-line for the assertion of our democratic rights, only to be stymied in the process?
Don't expect things will improve either before or after the next crop of worthless dross take their seats! TTFN MM

York Rally 2015
Hi there, Simple question - "Why is the CTC Management promoting Eroica Britannia so heavily, yet not show a single measure of support for the re-invigorated York Rally?". As the EB has illogical restrictions over who may ride what, it must surely be up to the CTC to provide for the broad spectrum of riders & machines ! TTFN MM

Re: RTA Liability report
Hi, Many years ago folk who couldn't think of driving without without a drink or three inside them were able to avail themselves of an insurance product to pay out if the should unfortunately get themselves banned from driving (St Christopher Policy).
This was rightly banned, as it undoubtedly set more than a bad example!
Move forward to current times. We now have companies bragging about having "Protected No-Claims Bonus" policies. Does not the same immorality apply?
I fully understand the desire to protect ourselves from situations arising when we are not actually using the vehicle, criminal damage, hit & runs et al, but surely if we get ourselves into situations through our actions or in-actions we should have to lose a portion of our no-claim bonus? Comments welcome. MM

Hi there, If the axle comes out why not pull the bearings out? Use a Rawlbolt to make a puller, slide hammer style! Not difficult to create. The slide hammer I use is simply a weight from a set of scales with a hole drilled through it. TTFN MM

Hey Mate, I am not suffering "Short Term Memory Loss" yet! I only got rid of it 2 years ago. But like any action or reaction in a motor car, it's best done with plenty of thought processing!
