Re: St Malo to Calpe (Alicante)

http://www.crazyguyonabike.com/doc/Gibjog2013 Obviously I rode from the opposite direction, but doable over the Peyrenees. No tunnel issues. You have to go over the mountain, same for trucks with ADR goods. From Pamplona I would head for Tereul, I,m guessing the old road is still there, since the new...

Re: Bike Security whilst camping

On the odd occasion, where I am wary I remove the chain from the front chainring. Disconnect brakes, takes seconds. Never had a problem round UK.

Re: Airbed recommendations?

Know the feeling failed airbeds.

I got a Exped UL 7 I think, will check, but it packs up the size of a drinks bottle, weighs less than Thermarest too.

Currently in Oban, started in Poole, got the tough stretch out the way early. Had more poor weather than pleasant thus far.

Re: Thermarest Neo X-Lite - very, very slow leak!!

Mine has the same problem, tho it is a thermarest trail mat. Found and repaired two holes. Cannot find any more and it still leaks. Very very slowly. It was new 7 weeks ago. Can't return it , as I got it while touring.

As the post states, can I carry energy gels on a plane in my hand luggage.? I am not having any checked in baggage.

I already have a load of 100ml liquids . Ryanair is the carrier.

Re: Carrying spd sl pedals and cycle shoes with cleats as cabin baggage.

I am flying to Gran Canaria soon. Similar to OP. The difference, apart from the weather, the Hire co,supply pedals, and charge €3 for helmet for a week. I pack the road shoes in hand luggage, the helmet (prefer to use my own) I strap to the bag. Airline is Ryanair. Seems a bit mean to charge for ped...

Thanks. That was me. Loved Finland incidentally we pretty much followed the 4, calling it the highway to Hel! It wasn't that bad considering what we have to put up with here in Britain.

Re: What is the best layering for lightweight touring?

I wouldn't take overshoes, they're a pain to carry since you got them aldi socks too. + it won't rain every day right? Forget sudocrem and take chamois butt, in a tube and fits into side pocket of pannier. Synthetic base layer for me, more comfortable and quicker to dry and lighter. Perhaps I got th...
