Re: new steel touring frame advice

Had a similar story tho mine was a steel frame. The BB shell threads were f***d, so I sent it to Argos in Bristol, who reamed out a new thread. Can't remember the cost but it was worth it. I would never touch threadless BB's personally on a used daily bike.

Re: Tyre tread

My view is tread on a tyre for road use is purely cosmetics, not enough speed to warrant a tread. Bold/slicks tyres just as good.

Horse drawn carriages everywhere, Beware of; Dogs in the villages, certain types asking for money, mostly young child...

Re: That elusive noise...

Noise gone! after chainring replaced. £16.80 from Evans. Think I'll order a big chainring in advance of a repeat performance. :D

Re: Budapest to Black Sea...EV6

Hi, Yes I did this route from Atlantic to Black sea earlier this summer, I also rode to Varna from Constanta. I mostly camped with a few rooms thrown in. I do Recommend varnacampsite .com. Run by A British couple in Varna. Pm me for more details. Good luck.
