Re: User name

I'm not sure her identity would be worth very much :)

Re: User name

Doh! I was on here in two forms anyway. mrsbloomsburybarton is now history, unless anybody else takes her on :-)

Re: Off topic: how many drivig lessons?

Many thanks for all the helpful replies. My daughter of course, has experience on the road with her bike even though she's flatly refused to ride it for about two years now. I also intend to pay for five lessons at first then ask her how she's getting on with the instructor. I'd also thought of funding about twenty lessons then seeing how the gorund lies. If it looks as though there's no chances of her passing we'll take it form there. Neither my estranged wife, with whom my daughter lives, or me have a car so there is little chance to practice but I'm hoping their kindly next door neighbour or her older half-brother may let her practice in their vehicle.

We live in Worcester by the way.

Thanks again.

Re: Off topic: how many drivig lessons?

Thanks, that's what I thought. Unfortunately (in this case), none of my vehicles have more than two wheels or, indeed, an engine :)

Off topic: how many drivig lessons?

I am about to buy my daughter driving lessons for her 17th birthday and am shocked to see the average number of hours needed to pass the test is 45. I had expected it to be 15 to 20 at that age. I'm sure I did it in about 30 hours when I passed my test aged 35. What is other people's experience please?

Re: Tea in Suffolk

Thank you Vorpal, I had a lovely cup of tea at Hollow Trees yesterday afternoon. A lovely big pot (but I did order a pot for two!) and a log fire to warm up a cold afternoon.

Re: Favourite tea shops

This is the 'Tickled Pink' tea room in Lavenham, Suffolk. It does wonderful tea and scones and has one of the best appointed toilets outside Cutnall Green, Worcestershire!

Re: Tea in Suffolk

Thanks TC, some food for thought (haha) there including at least two I've been to before. I notice the 'Renaissance Cafe' in Lavenham but last month my friend drove me to Lavenham specially to see the 'Tickled Pink Tea Rooms' and there, apart from excellent tea and scones, they have what must be the best appointed toilet outside Lord Morton's Tea Rooms in Cutnall Green, Worcestershire!

Re: Tea in Suffolk

Thanks Steady Eddie and Nuke, there are a few to look at there - I'd been in there before but didn't think to open the rides list! I'm in Newmarket now and the weather is HORRIBLE!!

Hopefully still be out on Monday and Tuesday though while my host is at work.

Tea in Suffolk

I will be out cycling in Suffolk for a couple of days next week and wonder if anybody could recommend any good tea places. I'm going north from Newmarket through Lakenheath and Feltwell and another ride from Newmarket to Lavenham, Hadleigh and Sudbury. I'm aware of the many choices in Lavenham and I presume there are choices in Thetford, Brandon and Sudbury but what about Lakenheath, Feltwell, Hadleigh or Clare? I wonder if there are any other gems tucked away in the countryside anywhere that would be easy to miss?
