Re: ** The Brexit Thread ** - 'Brexit Means Brexit'

So lower class people live up North mercalia? What amount of class/hate /location is this forum allowed to spread before Cycling Uk comes to its senses and stops this divisive thread. I bet British Cycling must benefit from the new members it must be getting, who would want to join Cycling UK if thi...

Re: ** The Brexit Thread ** - 'Brexit Means Brexit'

Forget about going from mess to mess, lets just have Corbin and his crowd and chances are the EU will insist that Brexit takes place as in a short space of time, we will be looking for EU handouts instead of us proping them up.

Re: ** The Brexit Thread ** - 'Brexit Means Brexit'

I am of the opinion that majority of people who looked at the facts sensibly will agree with you andrec. As one well passed his youthful bloom, I have witnessed the negative ?destructive effect our membership of the EU on basic industries. Forty years of gravy train for Brussels compared with one bu...

Re: Which new canti's for a Raleigh Randonneur.

Just to add to Bruce's alternative brake blocks the fit. I use Aztec ones on several bikes and to fit them on the CX50's I just deepened the recess hole on the spacers I use. This accommodates the slightly higher threaded nut of the blocks. I would also be tempted to get the posts repositioned befor...

Re: Which new canti's for a Raleigh Randonneur.

I also have the RSX ones if you should be interested but really can fully recommend the CX 50s. I have now glanced through the previous post on this topic and seems the CX range gets a good mention. I also remember I tried some v brakes and at my Dawes post spacing there was no chance they would fit...

Re: Which new canti's for a Raleigh Randonneur.

My Dawes Galaxy has boss spacings of 68mm and 72mm (from memory ) Despite various cantis being sold as suitable for older bikes the only advice I could get was "should be OK" I tried the Tektro 720 with road shoes and even then the angle was wrong and stopping was poor to say the least. I ...

Re: ** The Brexit Thread ** - 'Brexit Means Brexit'

To continue on the bike analogy, in my opinion the EU is a poor quality bike that has never fitted us and is long overdue for the scrap heap.

Re: ** The Brexit Thread ** - 'Brexit Means Brexit'

I apologise for voting the wrong way. Maybe i will vote the right way the next time. I must remember to ask remainers for all the facts because they are the only ones on the planet who have access to them. How silly of you windmiller, Blair has educated us all on the folly of our decision to leave ...

Re: People who provided or shorten cranks in the UK?

Highpath Engineering will shorten a chainset but any frame builder worth his salt should be able to as well. Most small engineering companies should be capable as well. Not cheap though, I had some done a couple of years ago and cost £40 to shorten a Spa cycles chainset. This gave me the option to b...

Re: Duke In Rollover

A highish vehicle struck from on the side and moving presumably at an angle to go left or right would easily pop over, witness the number of vans blown over by high winds that make the news periodically. I am no Royalist but have no issue with the fact that he may have been seen sooner than others. ...

Re: Ortlieb bar bag fixing

I bought a second hand Topeak bar bag which is probably smaller than the one you want and a RK bracket which comes with 4 allen bolts and a substantial inner plate and it works fine. 2 of the bolts fitted existing holes and the plates cover the unused holes and easy to make 2 fresh holes. Not as wat...

Re: Ortlieb bar bag fixing

HI apart from the wire method of fixing and the lock they are interchangeable so there will be no need to change the plate on the bag. I do believe R & K sales blurb states that they are compatible with Ortlieb.

Re: Greatest ever uk frame builder?

I have a Fred James in 853 with Cinelli lugs built by Rick Powell. I would class the workmanship as amongst the best and the quality of the paint and chrome is outstanding, I bought it second hand and enjoy using it even though it is a very short wheelbase frame. My go to bike for all round use is a...
