LollyKat it must be the same one but I thought it was earlier. Perhaps 1970’s even.
I had a locum GP a few months ago who did home visits using an ebike of some kind. I think he said he normally practiced near Heathrow.

Storm Dennis is not due where I live until Sunday. Went out this afternoon for a short walk just to get outside for a bit and the wind nearly had me off my feet a couple of times.

There used to be a GP in the west end of Glasgow who did home visits on a recumbent. I remember seeing him one day in I think Knightswood. His name was Dr Lean but cannot remember his first name.

Littlemill Distillery was a listed building but due to a variety of reasons stopped production. When it was disused it accidentally caught fire during the night and had to be demolished. The site is now covered with houses.

Long time ago I tried a Linear lWB at a trial event in Duns. Rather liked it but decided it was a move too far.
Now I have an Ice Adventure HD slightly laid back which I rather like but so far not had as much use as I would like mainly due to inclement weather coinciding with riding opportunities. Wind I can cope with but combined with heavy rain it is not nice.

Re: Outer Hebrides
The trouble with the ferry at Mallaig is that the harbour is not really suited to larger vessels. Oban has more space so tends to be more reliable. I have not been through Mallaig for some time as I much prefer the Oban/Castlebay route. I always thought that the change to Mallaig/Lochboisdale was not a good idea but hauliers think they can save time using this route as a lorry is much faster than a ferry.

What appears to be a clear boundary like a ditch may be misleading. It is not uncommon for people to steal a bit extra when putting up a fence or digging a ditch. The only answer is to get a surveyor, your title deeds and a tape measure to settle the matter. I have had personal experience of this type of problem tho’ I was only an employee of one of the parties involved.
I used to live in a peaceful area with open fields behind my garden. Now after several years of living on the edge of a building site I am surrounded by houses and my easy access to the top end of my garden has vanished into somebody’s garden.

Re: Is this forum unrepresentative?
The main difference I think between this forum and the general public is that those on the forum tend to be better educated and thus better informed than Joe Bloggs who gets information from the likes of the Daily Wail or others of the same ilk. Mind you I do not believe anything I may read or see in more "heavyweight " news outlets unless I can check it is true from other sources. What did we do before the internet?

Audax67 you put it very nicely. I live in such a place which gets more of these infestations every year. The difference here is that after they have tottered around they then go back to the ships who prefer them to be on board to get more money out of them. The spewing comes mainly from yottie and similar events which are inflicted on us from outside the area.

Re: Paying for Care
I never took advantage of the system because my wife would not have been happy with it but personal care for the over 65's is free in Scotland. Under 65 it is still available if needed but presumably a doctor would have to refer anyone for this.

Re: Paying for Care
I have come late to this discussion. Tangled Metal said jumping into very cold water is a fast way to go. I can vouch for that as being a scuba diver I have had to fish bodies out of river pools with cold water when people thought it was a good way of cooling off.
My late wife had Parkinson’s which affected her rather like dementia. She went into a good care home to give me a bit of respite from time to time. She hated the place and I can understand why but I had no other option and I would never have left her on a long term basis even tho’ life was pretty hard to put it mildly. In the end she died from a stroke which caused me a lot of grief but many people suggested to me that it was a blessed release which in retrospect was correct but no great comfort at the time.
She said often that she just wanted to die and would have opted for assistance but really she was not in a fit mental state at that time. In any case I cannot envisage myself agreeing to this even tho’ life for both of us was pretty hard.

Re: I found keys lying in the road today
I have a tag on my house keys and car keys with my mobile phone number. I don’t think they could be traced to my house but if any honest person found them they could give me a ring, assuming that is that I have not also lost my phone. I would not put a landline number on as that could probably be traced to my house.

Re: Touring on Skye
Loch Lomond Seaplanes will I think go anywhere they can land on water. I did see the program where they landed on Skye at the airstrip but that I think is a rare occurrence. I have not heard of them landing in either Oban or Tobermory recently. There was in the past a scheduled flight to Glenforsa on Mull but this could be dodgy for landing in a side wind. There also has to be appropriate equipment such as a fire engine on standby with obviously people trained in it’s use.

Re: Touring on Skye
I think an air service to Skye was discontinued due the low traffic figures. There is a small but vocal pressure group who may use it for business purposes but not enough of them to be economically viable. I have seen the seaplane in use as it flew to Oban and Tobermory but failed to attract enough real traffic so has not done this route for a few years now.

Re: Touring on Skye
Not confined to Skye but many consider hire cars and motorhomes to be a curse and a pestilence. They are mostly driven by people unused to driving on the left and on single track roads particularly can be a danger. They also tend to drive slowly with no regard for anyone else.
