I should add that the HD goes in unfolded.

Re: Folding an ice trike

+ 1 for the Berlingo. I have a Peugeot Partner which is virtually identical. I get the Adventure HD in with the rear wheel between the front seats and still have room for luggage and my Brompton.

Re: Lubrication and protection

I seem to be out on a limb here. I have been using Finish Line WetLube for years now on my chains. Drip it on when dry and leave until bike is next used. Run the chain through a cloth to take off surplus oil before riding and that’s it. For general lubrication of other moving parts I have sewing mac...

Re: Favourite smells

Freshly cut grass on a June or July morning reminds me of happy camping holidays. The real natives hate the smell but the smell of peat smoke takes me back to happy carefree days. A working whisky distillery is a living thing and at night particularly rumbles gently but also has a very characteristi...

Re: A view from the outside

So long as I get a sensible answer to a question I have no problem with thread drift which can be quite interesting . Where I do object is when someone instead of answering the question launches into a personal often sarcastic attack. This does not happen often and is usually just ignored as the bes...

Re: Signs of old age

I am always reluctant to give my age but I am 3 years older than the OP. I confess to not cycling every day when at home as I have a large garden and today by the time I had finished the grass and some other chores in the veg patch I could not be bothered. Another point is that I live at the top of ...

There is a California near Falkirk so you could go California to Moscow.

Re: Tap water tips

Scottish Water have started putting free dispensers out in various locations for filling water bottles. This is pretty new so I have no specific locations. I believe there is one in Oban but not seen it yet. Must check on my next visit later this week. They are apparently going in popular tourist ar...

Re: Need unpadded short finger gloves or mitts

I use sailing mitts on my trike as it has twist shifters. They tend to be a bit hot for summer use tho'.

Re: Letters: Help! The New Forest is becoming a suburban park

“ Overtourism “ is becoming a problem in lots of places. I am not familiar with the New Forest since I live several hundred miles away but I can sympathise with complaints of just too many people and not all are considerate of local populations. There is a mindset I have come across which says “ I a...

Re: Real Naked Cycling (i.e. no phone or GPS)

I have a small garmin on my bars for speed and trip distance. I carry a phone for emergencies. One very minor one was when I was lost on some back roads on the Black Isle. I stopped to ask a delivery van driver parked at the roadside for directions.Turns out he was lost as well. My phone has Memory ...

Re: Easy erect tent for disabled rider

That looks interesting but not inflatable. My current tent is a Banshee 200 which is not too bad but I would like something a bit bigger and easier as I am selling my motorhome soon and going back to car camping with a bike and a trike.

Re: Easy erect tent for disabled rider

Being a bit infirm I fancy an inflatable pole tent but being on my own I only want a 2 person size. So far I have found none of this size and the “ family” ones are far too big and heavy. If anybody else has found one it could interest a lot of us.

Re: Do you drink too much?

I now drink no alcohol. I spent 20 years making whisky and at management level it was freely available. On social occasions I admit to having too much but never at work. Some managers did have difficulties but I have lost touch as the ones I knew are all dead.

Re: is your doctor a real one? or a fake one

My local practice has a succession of locum doctors so I have plenty of experience. Some are confident and appear to know what they are talking about, some are obviously just there for a quick buck as they get very well paid but a minority seem a bit dubious. One in particular I remember did not see...
