Hi
I am trying to fit my bar bag on to my Dawes audax and am having problems. I have the Klik-Fix system but the gear cables get in the way. Is there an adapter that I can use to extend the bar bag fitting to reach over the cable ?
Thanks in advance
George

Re: Shifter Broken
Thanks for all the replies/suggestions. I have got myself a can of GT85 and will give that a go. If it still doesn't work i have a 9spd cassette that I will fit and will get some new shifters and a new chain.
Thanks again

Shifter Broken
The rear shifter on my Dawes Audax Giro has stopped shifting. I have checked the cable and there is no problem with that. I took it into my local LBS who reckons that the shifter is broken and will need replaced - the shifter is Shimano RSX 8spd.
He said the only option I have is the SORA shifters, what I would like to know is would a 9spd shifter work with the 8spd block or would I really need to go the SORA route.
Another question! Would it be ok to run a 9spd block using the same chain or would I need to change the chain if I did change to a 9spd block?
Thanks in advance.

Re: Kamikaze squirrels
As it is grey squirrels, just run them down - they are taking over and causing the death of the native Red Squirrel.
- I'll take the tails if you do get any - I will use them for my fly tying, and also pass some on to members at the fly tying club

Thanks eileithyia.
I have now added front and rear racks just need to get a set of mudguards and them get some miles in with loaded panniers to see how it handles, before I take it touring in the spring. The gearing is very good compared to the mountain bike that I have and much easier on the hills as well even though I have slicks on the mountain bike.

Re: ascent ?
I believe that it means there could be in the example you gave of 2000ft that there could be 20 hills of 100ft or 10 hills of 200ft. basic laymans terms but I hope this helps

Dawes Giro Audax
I have just got the above bike for £40.00. It has all the braze ons for fron/rear racks and guards. Is this suitable for 4/5 day tours? I will be touring in the lake district.

You should get your car insurance at Aviva. With twelve months for the price of ten, you could afford a kiddie trailer for your bike..
Aviva Insurance deals are not as cheap as they sound. I got a quote from them when renewing my car insurance they quoted me £752.00 which was 12 months for the price of 10. I actually got my insurance elsewhere for £356.00. So going with Aviva he would not save anything to get a kiddie trailer

(Same scam Halfords use on exclusive bikes and Sports Direct do on Dunlop and Slazenger Tennis rackets etc.)
Blacks/Millets is now part controlled by Mike Ashley, the Sports Direct man, and I fear this may be the same tactics - license and established brand to stick on a cheap product and pretend it is a big saving.
I don't know any of this for sure, and the tent may of course be good quality, but it would give me pause for thought.
Berghaus entered a partnership with Blacks/Millets to produce these tenst in 2010. They are made under licence by Blacks. See link for more info.
I do not own one or work for Black/Millets.

Re: Low Rider racks
Thanks for the replies.
The Tubus is out of my price range, I might try the Blackburn either that or forget about front panniers altogether and just stick to rear and a Bar bag.

Low Rider racks
This may have been asked before, but I couldn't find anything.
I have and oldish MTB that I have converted to make a tourer. It has no mounting bosses on the front fork (27mm Diameter) I was wondering if there is a low rider rack that I can get that would allow me to use the eyelet to fasten this on along with u-bolts for the top of the rack.
