Re: Winter Glove Recommendations Please

Can’t open your link, but they are the weatherproof ones. I’ve used them for the last 4 or 5 winters in temperatures down to freezing. They do keep your hands warm as well as any other gloves I’ve tried. They are better than Decathlon’s gloves that are 3 times the price and as good as the Sealskinz ...

Re: Winter Glove Recommendations Please

Just go into your local Aldi. They should still have them in. My local store had the yellow ones shown in your link, and the black ones, which I bought.

Re: Winter Glove Recommendations Please

Aldi currently have their winter gloves in store, on sale for £5.99 a pair. An absolute bargain and they are decent gloves too. I’ve just bought my 4th pair of these.

They also have neoprene gloves for slightly more, but I’ve not tried those.

Re: Now to raise Hackles-The Tour de France

Should they have stages on the same days as the men, or a completely separate race on different dates. Both the Women’s Giro and the Women’s Tour of Britain are stand alone races. Nothing to do with the men’s races, apart from the same organisers. There used to be a Women’s TdF on the same days as t...

Re: Cars using horn whilest they are stationary and you are cycling past.

There’s a danger of the “boy who cried wolf” here. If we complain about stuff like this, then people won’t listen when we really have something to complain about. It may be illegal, but the 4 year old is below the age of criminal responsibility anyway. Save your bullets for when you’ve really got so...

Pedersen wins!

I thought MVDP and then Trentin had it in the bag, but it’s never over til it’s over.

Re: Road Worlds

Yes, confirmed that Eekhof has been DQ’d. A shame to let the rider get to the finish, win the race and then DQ him.

Awful weather, yes, but it’s made for superb racing. Each winner has really deserved the win.

Re: Road Worlds

Why so many punctures?

Are they all using super light race tyres? After all, we are riding these sorts of roads all the time, often in similar conditions to what they rare riding in, yet we don’t see that many punctures.

Re: Winter Glove Recommendations Please

I’ve found Aldi cycling gloves to be as good as any others unless you are willing to pay megabucks. They cost £7.99 and may only last one or two winters but for that price, you just buy a new pair. They are prone to the lining pulling out but just hold the end of one of the fingers when taking them ...

Re: Alpine lake tour suggestions

A few years ago, we incorporated a circuit of a Lake Geneva into our Alpine tour. We flew to Geneva then cycled on the north side staying at Gex, then at the Lakeside near Lausanne, then near Montreux on the eastern side. Then on to Thonon-les-Bains on the southern side before we headed off further ...

Re: Trek FX 2 Disc - Maximum Tyre Width??

There is a sticky out bit where you would attach a mudguard but plenty of clearance at the sides. There’s about 1cm between the sticky out bit and the tyre and 1cm each side of the tyre. Would be tight with guards but should be OK without.

Re: Commute Advice - Hornchurch to Liverpool Street

My son lives near Whipps Cross Hospital and commutes into central London by bike - Regents Street, so a bit further in than you but probably similar roads. He uses a gravel bike and uses a variety of roads and parks to get to work. It’s all quite urban and busy, but the traffic doesn’t move that fas...
