My partner and I were cycling home on the Bristol-Bath cycle track last year where there are bats everywhere. He said to me 'isn't it amazing how bats never...' but didn't get a chance to finish with 'hit anything' because a bat flew into his forehead. Made a kind of funny thump noise (the impact, not Joe or the bat!).
I've also seen deer on this path but nobody believes me!

Is my bike damaged?
Yes you can assume that small white van man was to blame. Police have recorded the accident as driving without due care and attention. I suspect i will claim for a new bike from his insurance and use the CTC legal people for a personal injury claim too.
I was going to donate the bike to a local charity that does up old bikes but it sounds like it could be a liability.
Thanks everyone who offered advice

Is my bike damaged?
Hi all,
last week i was knocked off my bike by a small van. the knock threw me off the bike (a Dawes Discovery 301) and although on the face of it i appear to have sustained more damage than it i am wondering how safe it is to ride given the force of the blow. It's an aluminium frame, hit square from the back, causing the wheel to buckle.
Should i write it off or is it safe to ride again if i replace the wheel? Hope someone can help.
