Re: November LEJOG

In the good old days, it was said that a man's word was his bond, and it was true. When offered it meant that all the "bond" that was needed was the man's word that he would do what he said he would do. Contracts, in those days, were usually verbal or oral, and were sealed by a handshake. ...

Hi mattsccm,

No winter sailings, so next ferry option will have to wait till Easter. Fresh snow on the "Mam" yesterday!

Re: November LEJOG

Those of us who live in the real world pay taxes and accept some responsibility for our actions. Was your venture destined to fail, No, did the majority want you to succeed, Yes, I would hope. Sadly, the wisdom of old age and responsibility touch some of us more deeply than others. I feel saddened t...

Advice plz - Touring shoes

Hi, Looking to invest in some M324 pedals and need some compatible spd shoes that will allow easier walking without that penguin look! I am considering the specialized tahoe but am a bit nervous that they may not be stiff enough for long tour days? Also, should I go up a full size from my uk size 9....

Re: November LEJOG

Time for a reality check I think! I drove thru from Skye to Inverness early on Wednesday morning, had to de-ice the car before I could set off as it was -2. The temp had dropped to - 4 by Bunloyne. Next morning (Thursday) it was back to very mild and wet, point being at this time of year you can't r...

Re: 14 day LEJOG & Garmin 800 questions

Thanks guys. My long haul is sorted. Train from Inverness - change at Edinburgh- direct to Penzance £212.00 in a tad over 14 hrs. ............................... Charlie/ Nigel, Garmin 800: - Bikeroutetoaster seems to be the way to go, also clearly worthwhile to invest in the O.S Discoverer mapping....

Re: 14 day LEJOG & Garmin 800 questions

Thanks Rob, Loads of excellent E2E info, I had thought that you had posted on this site and then the penny dropped ...humble thanks. Loads to soak up. ........................ Ron, Thanks for the heads up. I had assumed that Train travel to Penzance would require onward travel from London. Not so, C...

Re: 14 day LEJOG & Garmin 800 questions

Hi Djoptix,

Don't fancy my chances on the Tube with panniers and a bike to contend with, me cycling thru the metropolis probably not unless I can get some kindly soul to walk in front waving a red flag?

Cheers

Re: 14 day LEJOG & Garmin 800 questions

Thanks Mick, Oops, I had hoped that all 14 route days could be saved to the Garmin in advance with no further need for input other than to charge up the Garmin over night. Guess I need to figure in for a net book now as well! I have looked into shipping the bike down before me - Paisley Freig...

14 day LEJOG & Garmin 800 questions

Hi, I am trying to put together plans for an unsupported 14 day (B&B) LEJOG for next summer. It's a bit daunting time wise given it will take a day and a half to get from Skye to Lands End. Sleeper train from Inverness to London and then simlarly to get to Penzance with 2 probable changes. Any a...
