I have recently upgraded the forks on my touring bike. These have mounts for cantilever and disk.
I use 9-speed campag ergopower levers (veloce/centaur) with cantilever brakes at the moment.
I was considering buying a BB7 mechanical disk brake for the front. I'm a bit concerned that the campag levers won't pull enough cable.
Has anyone dried campag ergo with mechanical disk brakes?

Re: Shifters + Arthritis
I had similar problems when I turned 50. Turned out to be arthritis of my carpometacarpal joint. Probable cause was 30 years of computer use.
Eventually I had to have a trapeziumectomy. Took a good year to recover. Can cycle and change gear without trouble now.
Mobile phones/gaming is likely to make this problem much, much more common.....

Re: Cycling on footpaths in Scotland - legal position
Thanks for all your replies.
I emailed the Access Officer. The new no cycling signs were not put up by the Council.
Must have been a busybody neighbour! They are going to have the signs removed.
They don't have a problem with cycling in the local park (Lodge Grounds).

Cycling on footpaths in Scotland - legal position
To avoid a dangerous road on the way the local railway station (North Berwick) I regularly cycle (slowly) through the local park. There is still a very old no cycling sign at one of the entrances. Also, new no cycling signs have recently appeared on a path leading to one of the entrances .
I was under the impression that since 2003 you can cycle on any (foot) path due to the country side access legislation. You are not allowed to cycle on a pavement.
A pavement is different from a footpath, as it is associated with a road.
There seems to be two sets of contradictory legislation. Roads (Scotland) Act 1984 bans cycling on all footpaths and pavements (footways). Land Reform (Scotland) Act 2003 allows cycling on footpaths.
Could anyone who knows about Scots Law clarify this?
Maybe I should in touch with East Lothian Council and ask them why the new signs have gone up?
Picture shows it isn't a pavement - https://www.dropbox.com/sc/lnljo0d1nsu3it1/OkDEM7XSSf

Gear change very stiff on Mezzo D9
I have recently purchased a Mezzo D9 folding bike. It's 9 speed (Shimano derailleur).
It comes with an SRAM Attack trigger shifters. I find this very stiff when going into a lower gear,
my right thumb becomes very sore after a short period.
Bike shop has looked at it. No obvious problem, apart from the cables being very long so it can fold!
Tried an SRAM twist grip changer, but was also incredibly stiff.
Anyone had the same problem? It has been suggested that Shimano trigger shifters are not as stiff as SRAM....

Bikes on SNCM ferry from Marseille to Ajaccio
Has anyone taken their bike on the SNCM ferry from Marseille to Ajaccio?
Do I have to book my bike on, or do I just turn up with it?
Booking through http://www.southernferries.co.uk. Not sure if this is the cheapest way to do it...
Thanks

road shoes for wide feet
The road shoes I have are going to need replaced soon,
problem is all the ones in the shops seem to be for very narrow
feet. My feet are both wide and have a prominent bone on the
upper part of my foot.
Most bike shops here only Shimano and
Specialized shoes, Shimano are very narrow, Specialized are both
narrow and have an thick tongue which causes me problems.
Can anyone suggest a make of shoe that will fit a wider foot?
(I use Look pedals).
I notice on-line that there are Northwave, Adidas and Pearl Izumi shoes
available. Can anyone comment on the fit of these makes?
